SUP General / Teaching in Hawaii, socal or Mex?
« on: November 17, 2012, 01:04:35 PM »
Curious if there's still room for good SUP instructors in HI, Mex, and/or Socal?  odd question i guess, but we're seeking a winter escape from the NW for a few weeks or months.  Are those regions already saturated with instructors/schools offering lessons and/or would there be resentment toward new or seasonal folks showing up possibly increasing competition?  thanks in advance.  RC

SUP General / Tips for teaching highschool students?
« on: November 13, 2012, 04:48:01 PM »
This fall we taught a weekly SUP class for a local highschool.  Our first time with this age group, we had hoped for a stellar group of paddlers at the end of the course but found many used the time to get out of school (reminds me why i took auto shop).  Any tips on motivating kids on the water?

Technique / Touring Board Weight Distribution?
« on: September 02, 2012, 10:05:24 PM »
For those who do overnight trips/expeditions where on the board do you place your heaviest gear?  In sea kayaking we would put the heaviest gear or supplies (water) behind our seats leaving the bow/stern for lighter gear to manuever easily. do you distribute gear evenly on the nose and tail or just nose?  thanks..

After surfing a super long freighter wave on Friday, my GoPro popped off the board and went for a swim - for 2 days. I even went back with a snorkle to try to find it.  Being my 3rd GoPro lost in a few years I was determined to find it.

Video continued running 45 minutes creating some really interesting footage of the camera bouncing along the sea floor.  I edited a few minutes out of 1hr. Neighbor Jon Brown found the camera today.  Check it out... http://tinyurl.com/6s9vcfl
