Gear Talk / Re: Best mobile air compressors to blow up iSups?
« on: July 08, 2015, 04:32:29 PM »
Looking at this one - same price as the coleman and says 20psi:

http://www.amazon.com/Volt-Inflatable-Stand-Paddle-Board/dp/B00WIWUIJG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_468_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=0BTBH57RM1WHQ40GXECS

but 2 reviews? ugh. Does say 2 stays - so a "leaf blower" to 1 or 2 psi then switched to piston pump.

Anyone see one yet?

Any I should not use?
Any place renting displacement hulls? I would love to try something faster than my 12'6" isup.

Oh it would be weekdays this week. Back this weekend. I'm back to Alaska next week :)

Wife has it - her mom has had it multiple times. I can't add to how it would suck with paddling - I know it can be seriously painfull, and I'd imagine paddling would aggravate it.

Cortesone can help for awhile but the long term fix is surgery.....

I feel your pain - my miniscus in left and right knee is 90% or more eroded...new custom knees are in my future. I've had injections that got me off a cane I was hobbling around on tho' ..... I think that pushed back surgery about 5 years.

That Core board look very interesting. Looks like they have figured out how to shape in bottom contours and a displacement nose without some rigid add-on piece. I wonder why other brand have not done something similar?

I think it IS a rigid add-on piece.

But why not an inflatable keel like a Zodiak? At least up in the nose?

Thanks - yeah I enjoy supthecreek touring around so I'm trying to copy him :D

Found another - there were a couple snow geese out there too - I didn't want to disturb them and kept my distance - but they are majestic creatures.

View from shore, along the highway - it was about 45 minutes "on the water" - took about an hour and 15 minutes with filling up the sup and packing it away again. I've been wanting to stop here on one of my trips - I'm glad I made the time.

Getting in close to shore.....

Sqeezing thru the grass tufts...I really need a break-away skeg in back....

Lots of pics :D I put my Sony RX100ii into a sort of useable waterproof bag/thing - it doesn't quite line up some of time and crops corners, and I can't see the back to know what's going on, and I can't use the zoom - not on a paddle board. But it keeps the $700 camera dry :D

Some of the tundra islands - the lake is sharply defined from little, low island to water - it drops off just about straight down 3 feet or so.
