Hit the micro waves w/the Wiki74. 9'11" Hull Ripper w/the Sea Sheppard keel fins, no side bites. Nice and loose in the clean lines. The paddle felt AMAZING at the shorter length! But I think I set the handle wrong. Flat side towards fingers and buldge in palm right? I've got the flat part in my palm. Saw a vid on TY w/PonoBill putting one together. These are nice paddles! I like the ergonomic design of the Kenalu paddle's handle. The flat side reminds me a bit of the T-handle like the Kialoa Methane I had. Managed a sesh before heading to my son's and then to the in-laws for fathers day. https://www.instagram.com/p/CtpBrI6srEa/https://www.instagram.com/stories/searcher_marc/3128036199089126479/

Good to hear you are rockin Cook. The paddle love from Burchas is amazing. The new paddles out there are great at a disgusting price. And that root invader was next level, yikes. On paddle length I find about eye forehead head easy on the shoulders.
Thanx for the motivation, SJ! 🏄♂️🤙😎

This is the extended handle cookie. Looks like you’ve assembled it in the shortest Setting possible. I reckon you could extend it by at least 5”.
Will do. Gonna rock it as a shortie for a few more sessions though. It feels kinda nice having minimal paddle length as I surf. Was checking out this foto from last year and the paddle looks REALLY looooong!! 😎🏄♂️🤙

I might have a spare extended handle at the shop (if the paddle doesn't already have one. I can't imagine Burchas setting up a paddle without one).
Thanx, PB! Pretty sure it's an extended handle on the Wiki though. I'm gonna ride with it for a bit and then decide.

How was surfing with the Boost?
It's okay. Truthfully it doesn't near propel you as much as you'd think. Really should be rocking two Boosts! I still have to throttle some waves to get into them. But it's nice not having to paddle back out and gain ground on the lineup. Don't think I wanna finds out how it performs in overhead storm surf or a sizable hurricane swell! There's a Boost 2.0 out now that supposedly delivers mort thrust but I'm out. No funds. https://youtu.be/pWB4Kj0WvPEPaddle arrived and I put it together. Thing's a stoker! Nice and light and feels great! The RSPro grip is cool too. Lucky me, there was a nice lttle wave today to test it out. Paddle's a little short for me so I was crouching slightly more than normal. Guess I'll open it up a bit after a coupla sessions.

Well, broke out the Boost Fin and managed some motivation in the micro swell hittin' my beach today. First session in three weeks! Besides my shoulder issue, a lack of surf has been one of the factors keeping me dry docked. That motorized fin definitely helps to ease the strain on my shoulder for paddling. Burchas is shipping me the Kanalu Wiki paddle and that should make paddling even less stressful. Thanx, Burch! You da man!

Wow, Burch. That is super cool of you to do a pay it forward! I will definitely take you up on it! PM me for further information. 🤙😎 LOL...I tried to get the owner of Island surf and Sail to come down on the RipStik and was slightly successful. The thing has a price tag of 389 and he told me 325 without tax if I pay cash. But the Kenalu is definitely a better offer! LOL

@badger & @burchas, pretty sure I'm at 80 sq inches on the blade and I almost always go with 70 inch shaft. I just took a ride over to one of the local surf shops that is sup-oriented (Island Surf and Sail) and he has a Werner Ripstick at with a 70 square inch blade that looks real nice for 325. Little pricey though.

Thanx for the more recent replies osprey, Bean, J, and Badger. You guys are stoking! Seems life keeps tossing me curve balls. Had a morning from hell that cost me 1K (waste pipe cleanout due to back up toilet---YUCK)! So the new board will hafta wait. In the meantime it seems downsizing my paddle blade is actually a better solution to help keep me in the water. I liked my Kialo Methane BEST! Was sooo bummed when I broke it. Bean repaired it but it was too short afterwards. Sold it for $50. T handle, elliptical shaft, and nice blade shape made it quite user friendly. Bean told me he contacted Kialoa and they told him the eliptical shafts were no longer available. That woulda been amazing if the shaft had been replaced. Good luck with finding another one! I was sooo lucky to find one on Craigslist for 150 way back in 2015 or so...shipped from Oregon for 30. Dude said it was his wife's and she stopped paddling. I had a lengthy back-n-forth w/Creek about scoring a new paddle and these were his suggestions. Thanx for the quality assist, Creek! 🤙 1) GenRation S81 6.5” wide blade. They are effortless 2) Quickblade but almost $600 3) Or.... cut down your blade and re-glass it to see if that helps without spending a fortune. Speaking of fortunes! This Kialoa Pipes ain't no bargain. Looks amazing though. https://kialoa.com/products/kialoa-pipes-ii-stand-up-paddle

I really appreciate all the replies and stoke! Read em over a few times and it's a definite moral boost from the Zoner community. I was gonna post it on facebook but wanted to keep it "in house". The SUP community seems way more chill than the regular proners (no offense prone stokers). I should seek a smaller paddle blade. Been putting it off and Creek even told me to do it like a year ago! My biggest board is the 9'11" Hull Ripper and the chimed rails, pulled in nose and tail, and strong rocker shape doesn't make that the most stable board. My 9'2" Hull Ripper is even tougher to keep stable.

Seems turning 65 isn't as enthusiastic as I'd hoped. Probably due to the fact that my shoulder reconstruct ain't so great. Pretty much hurts all the time and if I paddle it doesn't help! So looks like a bigger board with that Boost motorized fin will be my next session! I've ridden the Rivie shapes before and know they work. My neighbor of like 15 years has two 11'6" singles that I've used. Also been on The Door and The Nugg. I really want like a nice new Infinity longboard shape but funds are tight. Replaced 7 windows in my old house and also resided the outside shower. Buncha new 2x10 boards on the shower platform too. Here's hoping it happens smoothly. Thanx, Cook out Riviera SUP paddleboard 10’6’’ https://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/spo/d/beach-haven-riviera-sup-paddleboad-106/7625566350.html

Thanx for the quality stoke on the replies, Zoners! You guys gave me a "Zoner boner"! 🏄♂️😎🤙😜 My actual bd date is 5/11. Was that my buddy Rick H? Indeed it was. He's been hittin' me up for sup sessions for quite a few years now.

The stoke is real here in New Jersey. April 2023 action. My goal has always been to surf until I'm 65. Next month will be that milestone and it looks like I'll make it! https://youtu.be/dyLYsj5boZc

Scored a few good waves this March in between making palm crosses for a floral distributer. Almost 1600! https://youtu.be/7hGJumLkJrw
