Nice warm session this morning. Still paddling out whenever I can. One of the smaller days this winter but definitely one of the warmest.
Thanx for the stoke, Zoners.

Gear Talk / New Ride-2019 Nissan Frontier
« on: November 18, 2021, 08:29:19 AM »
Was a sad day when I traded in my 2008 Honda Element. BEST work/play vehicle EVER! If Honda had actually continued producing them I woulda went with a new one. But the last production year was 2011 and I really didn't wanna purchase a vehicle that is 10 years old. Always said I wouldn't get a pickup but looks like I'm now a pickup guy. After checking out all the mid-size models decided to go with a Frontier. Amazing vehicle really with a very loooong production run on the same platform. Only now in 2022 has it been redesigned.
So the new truck needs a bed liner, racks, and a bed cover/cap. Definitely needing help with these add-ons! He's a 2019 Crew Cab/Long Bed---BIG BOY!

General Discussion / Gnar-easter Oct 2021
« on: October 28, 2021, 09:19:28 PM »
Countless breaks lit up for this one! It was gnarly! Only my second session for Oct. If any of you have ever scored epic fall surf here on the east coast, it's a pretty special time. Was like a winter swell but warmer.

Sessions / Local Summer Love- 2021
« on: October 05, 2021, 05:14:33 PM »
Grey rainy day here in New Jersey so I threw a little video together with some September footage. Two sessions, first is my local beach break and second is the north end inlet break which is almost always more challenging. Fired up my HP Envy laptop for the first time in like a year. Thing is from Feb 2015 and it took some updating and a touch of troubleshooting but she worked ok with PowerDirector13. Was even able to download a couple effects from DirectorZone to make the vid a bit more interesting!
Enjoy Zoners!

Lucky to have gotten this session in! Early hurricane season Jersey JUICE! I don't think I fell once the whole session. 9'3" Hull Ripper w/perfect offshores and solid swell. Raw footage off the SOLOSHOT. They replaced the battery on my original base and it's recharged! Almost four years now for it.

Sessions / Bumper Season Swell
« on: June 17, 2021, 09:39:57 PM »
Right up to around now is the end of our "Bumper Season" here at the "Jersey Shore" as we are know by. Once June is over and July and August get going we'll be WAY crowded and working hard. Been busy cookin' at a seafood restaurant two blocks from my house and cuttin' lawns. Haven't done an edit in forever. Used Windows 10 Photo program and it synchs the photos to the music. I added titles, motion, and effects. Was super lucky to surf this morning.
Stay stoked, Zoners!

Sessions / 50F Day W/Sunshine!
« on: February 17, 2021, 09:28:57 PM »
Feel quite lucky to have experienced this session. Just me and my brother on the north end of our island. It's right near the inlet and the cross currents can make the waves very unpredictable. Especially this day with the slight side/offshore winds that started picking up. When the sun came out I could only think of how lucky we were to get this in February while Texas is getting the winter once over! Been surfin' here for years and it's always a challenge. Not alotta people check it because it's a bit off the beaten path which is what makes it so special.

SUP General / Memorial Paddle Out
« on: February 05, 2021, 06:00:41 PM »
I probably shoulda posted this sooner. I've organized a paddle out for a local surfer that has been my close friend for decades now! Jeez! Researched it a bit but any tips would be stokin'. Hawaiian tradition for sure.
A surfin' buddy is co-hosting. We have two Ez-Ups w/tables to display fotos and some of his artwork. Coffee, sandwiches, and cookies at noon. I waited until mid day so it could warm up a bit.
 Mahalo in advance.  8)

Read this out loud and felt it.   :(🌊🏄

"A paddle-out is a time-honored tradition by those with an ocean-centered lifestyle, dating back to Hawaiian burial rituals. Participants enter the water together and float on the surface, hands linked to form a circle.
Once together in this circle, the gathered community will speak about those that have passed and share how their legacy still remains within the lives of those that are able to continue back onshore. Each speech given in a paddle-out ceremony is followed by cheers and “cheehoo’s" from the accompanying circle to celebrate the memory and lasting impact the deceased left on the community.
To commence a paddle-out circle, participants splash water high into the air and disperse flowers. They continue back to shore, catching a wave or two together for all the souls that are no longer a part of the community".

Sessions / Orlena- CODE RED SWELL!
« on: February 02, 2021, 09:18:10 PM »
Was an impressive storm and produced equally impressive surf. Quite challenging. Good to see the shortboarders, long boarder, and sup all copacetic. At first when I got there I was apprehensive about paddling out. After 15 mins I decided to pull the trigger, paddled right out no problem, and lucked into a bomb first wave. 40FWater- 35F air. WNW wind around 10-15 with some stronger gusts.
..and that bailout was spooky.
