We had some nice head high waves up here too. I was totally worn out after three hours.
Excellent shots of the Flow. It looks great on the water. I think that's the board I would want. Volumewise I'd have to go with the 8'4 but the 29 3/8ths width seems just a hair narrow for me. I wish there was one I could try.

That's the way to do it. Cut the blade down to any size and shape you want and make it totally custom.

Absolutely not.
Wave hogs take waves that other surfers have been waiting for. They take all the waves they can with no regard for anyone else. They don't wait their turn.
No way would I pass up perfectly good waves if no one else is going to grab them.
High wave count is a good thing.

I think they have a way bigger blade than most people use these days. I've never liked their blade shapes.
Don't know if it makes a difference, but they have two sizes 8 and 8.5. My new Riviera paddle flexes pretty decent for me so far.
I saw that. The 8.5 is 116 sq inches and the 8.0 is 110. 110 is usually the large size for some companies if they make them that big at all. With Riviera it's their small size.

I think overall they have a bigger blade than most people use these days. That might be why they're on sale. I've never liked their blade shapes.

You can also use this. https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en&gws_rd=ssl#hl=en&q=australian+dollars+to+usThe problem is that a lot of companies don't follow the rules of conversion. Global retail prices can vary quite a bit from country to country. I went through this last winter with Jimmy Lewis boards. Jimmy's US retail prices were/are nowhere near the converted Australian retail prices. I asked him why this is but his answer escapes me at the moment. I was told today that the Sunova web site will soon have the US prices on it.

Thanks Rick, yeah I thought so.
So where can we find the American prices?

Are the prices on the Sunova website in Australian dollars or US dollars?

It looks like O'Neil has combined the Gooru with the Techno Comp calling it the the Gooru Tech Comp. http://us.oneill.com/shop/gooru-tech-comp-vest-wetsuit/?color=CK6I think a lot depends on how big the waves are and how capable you are in the water. We rarely see waves more than a few feet overhead in NH. I find that my Techno Comp brings me to the surface plenty fast and keeps my head above water very nicely. I'm 58 years old and a very weak swimmer due to tendinitis in my shoulder. The impact vest gives me the peace of mind that I can swim indefinitely and get to shore easily without exhaustion if I had to.

I surprised that you say that. The Dakine leashes I've been using have some of the best velcro I've seen anywhere. That's why I use them.
I'll have to check out the FCS. If it's better than Dakine that would be pretty amazing.
Creatures velrco is the weakest that I've found.

Thanks, that zeros it in better.
Yup a flashlight is all you need. I like that rule. It's like the horn on your car. You are required to have one but using it is entirely up to you.

Take a look at: http://navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=navRulesContent Part C, Lights and Shapes
What part of part C did you want us to look at? I don't see anything there that would apply to paddleboards or this thread.

I see Cinnamon Rainbows is already up on the website as a dealer. That was quick. Nice pic of the shop. Whoever is running the Sonova website is doing a first rate job.

Boards don't have bows. They have noses.
I think most people, boaters included, find that they can see better in the dark without lights.
For a quick spotlight, a headlamp works pretty well, but your sight will be limited to only what is near you and your eyes will have to re-adjust to the darkness every time you turn it off.
Google headlamp.

Yup, impact vest is the way to go. I wear the O'Neil Techno Comp, the next model up from the Gooru. I wear it over my wetsuit. It gives me enough float that I could literally swim for miles if I had to. Hypothermia would do me in before I drowned from exhaustion.
Don't get the CG approved models. They are too bulky and look dorky. The Comp styles have just the bare minimum of foam which is all you need if you're surfing. With mine I can raise my arms in the air and my head will still be out of the water.
