DJ,
Does the Glide have the windsurfer race board feel? Like it wants to "get up and plane" with just a few strokes?
I hope to demo one when I get to the Naish store next week.

I used the Ding All kit that comes with a tube of sun cure epoxy resin and some cloth.
I cut 2 or 3 patches of cloth and layed them over the ding. Then I spread resin on the cloth and worked it in with my finger. (in the shade)
Move the board into the sun and you're done.
After my 5th repair I was getting good at it. All the repairs turn yellow soon, so neatness doesn't matter.

I think the industry is still trying to sort out that answer. In the beginning it seemed like everything was carbon. Now we see more fiberglass offerings.
Of the ones I tried, fiberglass was slightly heavier, but still light enough.
We're seeing the trend toward fiberglass grow in my opinion.

Try DHL they deliver to HI
I was rejected by DHL. They referred me to DHL Logistics, which does take boards, but requires a corporate account. I ended up shipping to Hawaii through my companies shipping department, which used a broker who quoted $200, but invoiced the company for $400. Ouch! Be careful.

You can only ship on an airline if you apply to be approved. They charge $50 to come check you out and make sure you're not a terrorist.
Otherwise you ship with a broker who is already approved, or a shop who took the time to get approved and ships on a regular basis. Brokers can be very expensive.
Think about which shops near you ship boards. Infinity maybe?

I just measured the circumference of my paddle shafts where my lower hand grips.
C4 Fiberglass 4.06" C4 XPR 3.81" Shaka Pu'u 3.69"
Anybody care to measure a Quickblade or Werner for me?

Blane, I see some abrasive grip on your paddle shaft. What are you using?
I have been using re-deck windsurf grip.
Love the paddle shots.

Just wondering... Why don't you want flat blades?
DJ
Flat blades pull harder, even the new narrow ones. Dihedral pulls lighter, which feels best to me when surfing small (9'3-9'0) boards.

I find myself in need of paddle advice now too.
Is the Werner Carve and Advantage "shaft" small in diameter like the Kialoa, or fat like a C4, or somewhere in between?
The wife and I find ourselves in love with dihedral blades again. Don't want a flat blade. But being kitesurfers and ex-windsurfers, we're both prone to tennis elbow and carpal tunnel injuries. The C4 paddles we're using now, I think, are starting to flair up those old injuries.
We need to go back to "skinny shaft" paddles, but don't want flat blades. Is the Werner Carve and Advantage going to be what we're looking for?

Do you honestly believe that surf shops don't tack on their shipping costs to the price of the board? Really?
Hell no. The shop here just received 6 boards in a shipment. I happen to know it cost $180 to ship all 6 boards from CA to NC. The cost per board is peanuts to the consumer. Therefore, the boards sit on the rack priced at retail or "slightly" below. A bargain for anyone buying in a shop, compared to mail order plus paying shipping yourself on ONE board.

Isn't SUP sales one of the few products with build in protection against mail order?
If a local shop exists, selling what you want, there is no way in hell buying on-line is cheaper. The cost of shipping makes sure of that.
In the summer of 2007 I had to buy mail order. There were no shops selling SUPs.
Now all the shops have them, so I can buy off the rack, free of any shipping cost to me, and usually with a locals discount.
Shops just have to stock what people want to buy. Seems simple. What am I missing?

Noticed that they're advertising in the latest issue of Stand Up Journal. So, it appears that they at least have funds, or may be credit, to run ads.
Shame on Clay for accepting the ad.
