I got a single RFC 5.5" fin for the center US box. The fin won't work at all. The screw bottoms out against the fin before it can tension against the box to hold the fin. Also the fin is much thinner than the box so it wobbles pretty bad.
I know a few of you guys have mentioned liking the G Lopez tri fin sets from Future. Did the center fin fit nicely in the box? Are there different types of US boxes on surf boards and is it normal for some fins not to work in some boxes?
It's fairly common for "surfing" fins to fit loose. Surfers don't seem to care. But windsurfers must have them fit tight. So start shimming. My favorite shim material is wet/dry sandpaper.

Did you measure the tail rocker? I often read claims of this and that, but rarely do people know what they are talking about when it comes to knowing the rocker.
Measure it.

The new paddle sounds clever! The wider shapes look much nicer. Anyone notice C4 is not mentioned in the Sub 9 literature? I tried www.subnine.com and got a password request to access. Could it be C4 is no more and they are coming back as sub 9?

Naish is already doing that. They have a contract warehouse in Florida handling the east coast.

Interesting. The 7'8 volume has been almost corrected. It was listed as 105L last year and this year its 115 and weight rating increased from 190 lbs to 200.
I would agree with the updated weight rating. They still don't list the real width. It's wider than 29. Around 29 3/4 wide.
These adjustments to volume make me think the boards are based off true Iggy hand shapes, not computer shapes. Otherwise they would know the exact volume and wouldn't need to tweak these volume estimates.
No wonder I like the shapes so much. True craftsmanship. It's hard to duplicate what the eye and years of skill can do, using a computer.

Paddle Surf Hawaii. Blane was nobody just a few years ago He's a great guy who made a dream come true. They make great products and refuse to over price. I give him credit for driving prices down with the big guys.

Go 8' not 9' 29 wide is enough 3 1/4 tail rocker 18" tail I'd do 5 fins, all FCS Fusion boxes
Don't pull the nose too much. You loose too much stability.
After you go 8', a 9 feels way too big and stiff

Here is the kicker though. Per Ind. Code 14-15-2-6 Sailboards or Windsurfing boards are EXEMPT!! One of the more dangerous versions of boarding is friggin' exempt.
Excuse me, but windsurfers did have to wear PFD in the early years. We got our shit together and got the law removed. BTW, windsurfers are SAFER. The sail acts like a sea anchor when you fall off. Board stays right next to you. SUPs are free to blow away and yet people still do downwinders without leashes. So who is being dangerous?

Paint matching will be your biggest issue. Filling and sanding is easy with the "right" product.
The best product, is those two part epoxy kits with micro balloons sold by surf shops. You mix the white powder (micro balloons) with the epoxy until it's like tooth paste. This makes it sand easy and makes the paste white.
Another (simpler) solution is white marine-tex. Sold by West Marine. When mixed, it becomes like tooth paste and fills nicely. The drawback, is it's slightly harder than micro balloons and epoxy. Marine-tex is great for "small" repairs in windsurfers and painted SUPs.

Is the board painted or clear resin epoxy?

Greetings,
I'm about to do a scratch repair on my board and I would like to know if anyone has used this product successfully without any damage to their board. http://jbweld.net/products/jbstik.php .I just want to use it to fill in the scratches then sand and paint. If any can recommend other products that would be awesome. Thanks.
Don't do it. JB weld will be harder than your board. You want to use something the same hardness or less, so it sands out and blends. You don't want to sand thru your skin trying to sand the JB weld flush. Why fill scratches? You're more likely to make it look worse.
