In the early 70s, I'm driving through Ithaca NY. A kid from Cornell makes a left turn in front of me. I T-bone his car so hard it throws it onto the sidewalk.

A few weeks later, I get a letter from him saying sorry, even though it's his fault, he can't pay for my cars damage because he didn't really have any insurance.

My insurance company says, don't worry, we'll pay and then garnish his fathers wages!

I think the buffering is worse on YouTube than Vimeo. I also think it takes much longer to upload to YouTube than Vimeo.  I really dislike YouTube. Vimeo is more friendly with better options.

I used Sony Vegas in my windows days. Not as easy as iMovie. But if you've got windows, I'd probably stick with Vegas

If you've got an iPad, maybe try iMovie on it

Shipping by airline used to be the cheapest. It's cheaper than actually flying with the board for some airlines. But, since 911 YOU can't ship by airlines without going through inspection approval process and paying fee to get setup as shipper.

Alternative is to pay shop to ship it for you. A shop that is setup and approved with airline to ship.

I'm pretty pleased with the xTuf shafts. We're going to have a slightly stiffer one soon too. I think it will come in about 90Flex. We'll probably discontinue our 60Flex and have 100Flex, 90Flex in 3K Twill, and 80Flex and 70 Flex in unidirectional bias wound.

Funny, I was thinking just the other day. The xTuf is so good, some of those other shafts could go away.

Didn't Fiberspar use reflex energy as a sales pitch to market their most expensive masts back in the day?

xTuf = major reflex energy  ;D

I looked, From West Palm Beach, the Air Tran flight makes 1 stop (probably flies north to
Atlanta first) and lowest fare I could find  May 15 to 18th was $459.00 round trip   Jet Blue flight is NON STOP same dates was $158.00 round trip, not sure how Southwest beats that...fuzzy math maybe?

Board cost is what I concentrate on. The flights are free with frequent flier miles, which I'm good at collecting  ;D

Southwest beats it. $50 each way. They are merging with air tran and they fly to PR. can't wait until the merger is complete.

3.   How much less fatiguing is SUP surfing compared to lay-down surfing? I assuming it is less fatiguing, at least per waves caught.
Thanks Roland :)

Item 3 made me  ;D

I can see how some might think this. There are more than a few lazy SUPers who freak if it's too hard. Like anything athletic, you get what you put into it.

Every time it got easy, I down sized. Started with 12'1 5 years ago. Using 7"8 now. Keeping it exciting and loving the exercise.

The UPS man just delivered a long box from Hood river! ;D! Time to run home and get my sons hot-glue gun. Can't wait to get one set up, but so busy at work, that this afternoon may, or may not happen. Will post up later. Thank you Bill!

There is already glue applied to both the blade and handle. All you need is a hair dryer or a heat gun. A cheap hair dryer is best. Your wife's good one won't get hot enough

Bolide, you can certainly try the wiki. It's all about cadence. The wiki is well name. It's incredibly quick because there's no swing weight. I don't think flexy shafts do muck for back pain. Go with a 100 and take advantage of its light weight and quickness.

You don't think the xtuf would make the difference with more flex?

I think it would, in a round about way. I think a longer paddle helps the lower back. But a longer paddle adds more stress other places. The xTuf will be more forgiving and soften the stress everywhere new and old you might be feeling it.

Low back pain every day, 2 shoulder surgeries.

Dan

I'm going to disagree with Bill on the shaft. I injured myself with the 90% carbon shaft. I'm using the xTuf now, and think it's easier on my shoulder and performs better with the recoil booster kick it puts out. I didn't notice any difference in weight when removing my 90% shaft and replacing it with the xTuf. Bill is splitting hairs on the weight difference.  ;D

I switched my wife over to the xTuf too.

But in the UK I get to see the most fantastic stuff from the US. At the moment there is a US series showing here called Homeland, with Claire Danes and Damian Lewis (a Brit actor). The quality of the writing and acting is breathtaking. Very grown-up drama indeed, despite following some obvious genre conventions.

You got that right. Homeland and Dexter rule. I subscribe to Showtime only those shows air and cancel when they end.

I've never heard about epoxy needing that long to cure. Not sure I could wait!

The factory here doesn't require any waiting period. They post cure all boards. It's considered the right thing to do actually. Not because the customer can surf it sooner, but because it permanently raises the temperature threshold of when epoxy goes soft in the hot sun by 20 degree C.

Bake at 100F for 24 hours for Greenroom epoxy.  I assume Resin Research epoxy is the same.

You need a vent to do this. I can't see a vent in the photo, so that may be why they didn't post cure.

DW, would you mind sharing what pad you prefer for your surf SUP's?

I buy bulk sheet from hydroturf. The cut groove sheet on their site. It cost $60 to do a board.  I glue it down with Dap contact cement "gel".

Like Bill says, xtrak is lightest. It is the most expensive too. I use it on all my race boards. I don't use it on my surfing SUPs because it's a narrow pad with no tail kick. If xtrak would make a surf specific wider model with tail kick, they would achieve world domination because it is THE best pad material, period.
