We better get unified quickly on what itís going to be called.

Wingsurfing, Windfoiling, Wingfoiling, Wing SUP / BIG wings...7m
« on: September 09, 2019, 04:09:13 PM »
First day on a 7m wing. Wind reading on the beach 12-13 mph. IWindsurf sensor saying 10-15 mph...not knots!

7m is NOT too big. It was freaking awesome. This is your warning manufacturers...start making bigger wings or be left behind.

Foil SUP / Bump Cap
« on: July 06, 2019, 02:57:08 PM »
A friend of mine, who is part of the safety team on an Americas Cup foil boat, told me the crew was wearing something called bump caps.

My friend is going to start wearing one surf foiling. Me too!

I never knew this product even existed.

I give credit to this forum for naming our sport SUP back in the day.

Maybe it is time for us to name this new sport. Maybe a poll Admin.

It gets confusing having a conversation on the beach when everyone calls it something different.

I few locals are calling it Wind Wing, but to me, that is a sail brand.

Wind Weapon was a brand, so no to that.

Wing-Surfer is a Naish brand. So no to that.

To me, they are wings, so wing something makes sense.

They seem more like a sail than a kite.

My vote is wing sail.

So Iím a wing sailor.

Foil SUP / If you ride strapless...
« on: October 11, 2018, 04:53:58 AM »
This appeared in my timeline this morning. I had to share because itís a flawless example of foot placement for strapless foilers. The offsets give the leverage and control needed without using straps. Kitechino is pro level foil racer. Iíve always used this placement. Itís just instincts for anyone whoís foiled a long time strapless.

Foil SUP / I saw the future of foiling today
« on: January 28, 2018, 04:38:29 PM »

Austin Kalama is here in Florida right now. I watched him prone Foil, then when conditions were right for switching to SUP foil, he switched.

Video doesnít do it justice. His speed on the wave, was like nothing Iíve seen before (unless a kite was involved). Then the flips, even going back out he flipped and landed it.

There was a time I was envious of those prone foiling. Not anymore. What he did on a SUP was so much more impressive.

Sorry about the quality.  Shot with zoom on iPhone. My camera battery was dead when I got the call he was foiling my home spot.

So who knows where Kai is going after leaving Naish?

Does he start his own brand?

Foil SUP / Slingshot Releases SUP foil
« on: March 28, 2017, 12:44:18 PM »

They show the full range here. Interesting they have a SUP foil and prone surf foil, different wings. All interchangeable with new windsurfing foil and previous kite foil.

I haven't found price of SUP foil yet, but windsurf foil is $1049.

This is what it feels like with a waist leash. My wife with her waist leash. It may look funny today, but soon it may look normal, as more discover how nice they are.

Random / ApplePay
« on: November 06, 2014, 03:56:27 PM »
Had first experience with it today by accident. I was checking out at Home Depot. I opened my wallet/iPhone case to pull out my credit card and to my surprise the ApplePay app was launched and open.

I looked at the terminal. It looked like the same old type. Didn't see the NFC dashboard you see on some terminals. I thought what the heck, put my finger on the button.  It dinged and receipt printed out. The cashier was as shocked as I was. She had never seen that before.

My receipt shows the random generated CC number. Not my real CC number. Pretty friggin awesome because Home Depots prior CC breach caused my last CC to be replaced.

It feels so much safer knowing merchants won't know my real CC number. We need all merchants using it. I've had my CCs replaced 5 times. I'm sick of fraud.

The Shape Shack / ProBox Larry Finbox Destructive Test
« on: July 14, 2013, 10:16:18 AM »
The quick and dirty test.

1.35 lb EPS from Carpenter
2 layers 4 oz S
Didn't even do a nice hot coat. Just a quick wetout of 2 layers.
Let sit for several weeks before sanding.

Hit each fin with a sledge hammer. Each blow stronger than the next until a failure showed. It took maybe 5 blows for each.

Probox never failed. The fin broke. The way you want it.
The FCS Fusion finbox failed before the fin. Bad!
