Dave posted a pretty in-depth video about it today in the Infinity SUP Owners Group on Facebook. Probably need to join to see it but he is pretty responsive there.

Viento is easy since the shuttle is a ten minute ride down the highway. No official shuttle right now, but it’s easy to set one up. It’s 8.5 miles as the crow flies but I generally cover 10+. But the options are essentially infinite. 300 mikes of river (1243 miles total) with highways on both sides.
Is the shuttle not running this summer?

Haven't been up there recently but this is still your best resource https://thegorgeismygym.com/forecast/With 66 degree water and f'n hot weather I don't think much rubber is needed I make sure to contribute each year whether I'm there or not. Waking up to the email forecast each day I'm in the Hood is completely worth the $

Was just down there with some friends visiting Valle de Guadalupe so didn't get to surf, but...
San Miguel just north of Ensenada looks like it can get very good! Wind was up pretty early most days, but the last day we were there it was head high+. and the rights looked like they went forever. No stand ups out so not sure about the vibe but wasn't very crowded on a monday morning.
Make sure you have Sentri for your vehicle - the border was a disaster for those that didn't have it

Glad to hear I'm not crazy - at least not because of this! I couldn't believe it was by design. I'm not claiming to be an expert but I've been through a few sessions with Kalama, have paddled a lot of miles flatwater and downwind, and have surfed countless waves. At no point did I ever worry about my bottom hand slipping down toward the blade. My normal stroke is only fingers on the bottom hand and after 2 minutes with the Black Project paddle I found myself grabbing it with a closed fist just to keep the grip secure.

Been paddling KeNalu paddles for quite some time and like the sharkshin texture on the shafts especially on hot days. Today I borrowed my friend's Black Project paddle and almost fell over on the first stroke. The texture on Black Project shafts is opposite of Kenalu!
Black Project texture allows your bottom hand to slide up toward the handle but resists when you try to slide down toward the blade. My first thought was that this was an installation mistake but turns out this is the design. Now I'm questioning my entire stroke if this is correct.

The question you have to ask yourself is what was so bad about allowing fishermen to launch canoes and kayaks off the beach to fish? Is it because they are concerned for safety give the 10+ miles of unguarded beach and the fact that the best striper fishing is done at night with solid on-shores in low temp water. Or, do we just live in a nanny state.
NJ definitely is a nanny state when it comes to ocean use. Every time I am there I am amazed at how aggressive the life guards are enforcing safety - swimming, surfing, etc. Last summer I heard more whistles in an hour at Seaside Park than I have heard in the past year here in San Diego.

The link only works for me if I open in an incognito window, but after that it's pretty cool. Thanks Tom

I think we have to assume death counts from many other countries are just wrong. Ecuador even today is reporting just over 500 deaths but in Guayaquil alone they are ~6k above the annual average for the same time period. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-52329500

SAN DIEGO — Recreational boating, swimming and surfing will be prohibited countywide beginning Saturday under new county orders directed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus, which claimed the life of another resident and reached 1,000 local cases as of Friday
Yeah we had a nice run up here - the beaches in Cardiff (state park managed) open until today. But after seeing young guys crowding the peak at Cardiff reef and the groms on their e-bikes congregating at Seaside for the past week I knew it was just a matter of time.

Somehow CA state park beaches are still open - paddling and surfing is allowed. Just don't paddle out of the state park area. Learned yesterday that lifeguard jurisdiction extends out 3 miles.

Looks really good! Love to see those bumps line up in front of you. Of course that's from the comfort of my warm office in San Diego Do you use anything to track your heading when visibility is so poor?
