Gear Talk / My new PSH 10'6"
« on: January 28, 2008, 05:32:12 PM »
Well it was not the best day out there today but finally got to go out on the 10'6" .  Winds were strong today (15kts) sideshore and waves were about knee to waist high and sloppy.  I decided to do a  (7mile) downwinder today as staying in one spot was not going to happen today.  First impressions of the PSH 10'6" production.  Basically its the same as my 10'0" but bigger and more stable.  Tracked great in the winds and downwind.  It has plenty of glide and was very stable in all the chop.  There were some places I was able to get a couple of waves and this board does not disappoint.  Again a great turning board on the wave yet plenty stable for someone with less surfing experience.  I am 190-195lbs and was all over this board.

The best part about this board is the cruising ability.  Yeah I love the smaller boards and how they rip on the wave, but this was so much more stable in the choppy conditions as well as the glide factor for the touring.  Anyone looking at a mid 10' board to basically "do everything" I think this would be a great board.  I myself am going to use it as a summertime wave / touring board.  When the waves are choppy (windy) or I just want to go touring this is going to be the board for me.  The center fin was a 9" but I have replaced with a 8" to fit my style more.  Hope this helps some of you out there.  If you have any questions please let me know.  Have to go to work tomorrow so will not be able to ride til next week.  Here are a couple of photos of the board.  ENJOY!!

Sessions / New Smyrna 1/24

Had a great day with some people from Boston whom I met on the beach (actually on the water).  Clam winds and small waves but only a couple of people.  Could not ask for a better day as this is why we SUP.  Much thanks go out to LYNN who took these shots.  She was stuck on the beach while her husband was out SUPing all day.

Gear Talk / My new PSH 10'0"
« on: January 24, 2008, 02:51:11 PM »
Well after having three days on my new PSH 10'0"  I am TOTALLY STOKED!  What an amazing board.  Been out on waist to chest high glassy, and choppy surf for the past three days and this board is amazing.  Very stable and easy to paddle , then you get on a wave and it rips!   Rides like a shortboard on the waveface and easily catches waves of any size.  I weigh 190lbs and am able to walk around on the board without a problem.

Today I paddled at my normal spot and the waves were small, so I ended up paddling about 2 miles upwind to the inlet and scoring a great session with a guy from Boston (will be joining the forum when he gets home).  We had great waves and it was nice to finally paddle with someone new.

I know a lot of people on here are asking about smaller boards so I hope this helps you out.  I consider myself a fairly advanced intermediate.  Been paddling about 1 1/2 years on east coast and some Maui in the fall.  I choose to go with the 10' over something smaller (which in the PSH line is 9'6") due to a couple of things.  Yes I could ride a smaller board but the 10' allows me to travel to other areas.  I am not light so I need a little more float than others around here.  The 10'0"  allows me to paddle 2 miles like I did today , yet still rip in the surf.  I feel at my weight anything smaller would be great if I was always surfing right outfront but being able to paddle to other areas is something which really got me stoked on the sport in the first place.

Overall I could not be happier on this board.  Great construction  (very light) and the 2+1 finsetup is excellent (I am using a smaller than stock center fin right now).  Here's the only photo right now.  Will try to post some more soon.  Also I have to give credit to my wife who helped me with my deckpad setup!

Nice to get off work and wake up to glassy waist to head high surf.  Scored a great session this morning with nobody out.  Great waves all morning.  By mid morning shared them with a couple of other surfers.  Cannot wait to get a smaller SUP. No photos but will try to post tomorrow if we get the same.

Going to be out visiting with some friends for a couple of weeks and just looking for anyone to SUP with.  If anyone is looking for someone to join in I would be interested.  Going to see if I can try some smaller boards ( on SOS Blue right now).  If anyone is interested please let me know.

Sessions / Nice FL session this morning
« on: October 03, 2007, 09:56:40 AM »
Finally the winds have calmed down a little and was able to get out this morning.  Was still kind of choppy and a lot of close outs but still a good day.  Sets were head high but still choppy with a lot of current.  Was the only guy out there (lots of surfers downwind) but still a great time.

SUP General / SUP storage
« on: September 19, 2007, 02:41:21 PM »
I know this may seem kind of funny but i am running out of garage space and trying to figure out how to store the SUP boards.  I was thinking if using surfboard angled racks (for the wall) but I think the boards are going to be too thick and wide.  Anyone have any ideas?  I already have my longboard hanging on the ceiling and my shorboards standing up against the wall.  Right now not sure what to do with the SUP.  Anybody have any pics?

« on: August 26, 2007, 12:27:24 PM »
Hello all!  I started SUP out in Maui last fall.  Leared from a friend out there and now do it full time in New Smyrna Beach FL.  Go out usually every morning (the weeks that I am off)  and love it!  Do a little touring but a lot of waveriding.  Use the SOS Blue and C4 77" paddle.
