This is from Island Surf and Sail.   They now have Paddle Surf Hawaii DEMOs and New Boards at their Costa Rics place for the winter.  Here is what the shop sent me.  The contact guy is Bob Selfridge a really great guy and also a Kite Instructor down there.

From Island Surf and Sail:

Paddle Surf Hawaii boards are available at Cometa Copal, Bahia Salinas, Costa Rica.  He has 10'6", 10'3, and 10 w/ pads and paddles in the box in stock.  We can ship in but we need a few to make the quantity costs better.  And a 10'6"  and 10'3" demo.  His phone # is from Costa Rica 506-2676-1192.  In the US you need to dial 011 in front.  His email is lguardbl@gmail.com and Bob@islandsurf-sail.com.  He checks them both, but Lguard is his primary.

SUP General / Photos from Tuesday Session
« on: October 03, 2008, 10:33:09 AM »
We had some nice waves on Monday and Tuesday finally.  Monday was a little bigger but tues was still great.  Playing with our new video camera, here are a couple of photos from the video.  Quality is so so because is was so early (shooting directly into the sun).  Still trying to post a video or two but seems to be taking some time.  This was on my 10' PSH.  Waves did not have alot of power to them but they were nice tigh to waist high.

Sessions / East Coast has SURF
« on: September 21, 2008, 12:03:43 PM »
Well yesterday was HUGE but too windy and too much current where I was.  Finally made it out and it was choppy, windy, crappy but HUGE    (1-2' overhead).

Today was amazing but a lot of sections.  made it out this morning with calm winds and chest to 1-2' overhead surf.  Lots of sections so you had to be in the right place at the right time.  Was on the PSH 9'6" all morning TOTALLY STOKED!!!   Great board for today's conditions.  Heard from buddies up in NJ that the swell was the same up there as well.  Looks like we are going to get the same tomorrow as well.  Finally the waves are back!

SUP General / Transworld Surf Top 10
« on: September 18, 2008, 11:21:22 AM »
I only found out about this as it was on the local news the other night.  Kind of funnt that New Smyrna Beach made it in the Top 10.  Oh and a note, when they say there have been "18" this year that's actually incorrect.  As of the other day we are up to "21", a new record.  Just another reason why I SUP.  Enjoy

Gear Talk / New Dakine SUP pad colors
« on: August 23, 2008, 03:10:02 PM »
May not be that exciting to some people but just put the new 2009 Dakine SUP pad on my PSH 9'6.  This is a new color for '09 which is Black Camo.  I matched it with a Dakine Mantis tail pad as well.  Same design as this years Dakine pad but just a new color (also still available in black).  Hey what can I say I was excited and its the only thing to do as its still raining nostop outside (That's why I took the photo in the family room).  Pad is a 2pc precut pad that is really easy to install.

Sessions / Bertha is STILL HERE!!! pt.2
« on: July 12, 2008, 10:06:19 AM »
All I am can say is WOW!!!!!!  Was out at 6:15am and just got off the water after 12:30.  Shoulder to overhead surf and not a breath of wind.  Almost like they groomed the water so there would be no bumps.  Waves were amazing!!!  Everyone scored a great day.  Was out with a bunch of shorboarders and all our energy fed off each other.  What a great day.  I believe in what goes around, comes around so I helped alot of the shortboarders in giving them a heads up to the ourside sets.  In turn they were letting me drop in on some huge sets.

My PSH 10' is just so amzing.  That board can handle everything.  I hope everyone else got some more Bertha today.  Looks like we sould still get a little more tomorrow as well as the winds still calm.  I cannot believe with the waves we had today that we are in FLORIDA.

Sessions / Bertha is HERE!!!!
« on: July 11, 2008, 08:58:51 AM »
Today was a 5 hour session.  Out at Dawn and scored some of the best rides ever.  Chest to overhead glassy surf.  What a great morning.  Lots of people out but everyone was cool and stoked as everyone was getting waves.  Finally called ti quits around 11:30 as I just could not paddle anymore.  Great morning and looks like we are going to have the same form the next couple of days.  Hope everyone else is getting the same.  Looks like it is going to be another fun day tomorrow. ;D ;D

SUP General / What cameras/camcorders are people using?
« on: June 27, 2008, 12:20:13 PM »
Everyone here has put on some great videos.  I used to shoot freelance for years (nikon F5's) but have since just gotten out of it as I was not interested in carrying all the gear.  Now with SUP I wish I had someone (wife) doing some video/photos.  Was wondering what everyone is using.  I am not looking to get a pro model but want something with very good quality.

Here's what I think would be good as it also shoots stills and has the zoom to shoot out on the water.

I am up for any other suggestions as well.

Sessions / Another Amazing FL SUP session
« on: June 10, 2008, 10:16:08 AM »
I know I tend to write one of these every week but this was one of the best sessions in a while.  Went to a new area sort of.  Basically glassy chest high and PEELING surf all morning long.  And to top it off, 3 other SUP guys as well.  The waves were just coming in one after another and had a little power to them  and they went on forever, really!  Kind of reminded me of a lowers day with the waves just peeling down the line.  Was great to see some other guys out as there are not many in the area.  The two new guys are usually weekend guys which explains why we never have met.  Was on the PSH 10'6 and just killing it.  That board just turns!  I let 2 other guys try it.  Both will be calling blane by the end of the day.  He was so dialed in on my board just after a few waves.  Its nice to see what your equipment can do with others on it.  Just a great day, totally STOKED!!!

Sessions / Two Great Sessions this Week
« on: May 29, 2008, 08:46:23 AM »
I have 10 days off this week thanks to scheduling so i was hoping to get SUP in every day.  First part of the week was onshore and windy, crappy.  But the last couple of days have made up for it.  Yesterday was waist to chest with a couple of head high sets that I was able to get.  LIttle breezy but still a great session.  Was at the beach by 6:30am and was out on the water for over 3 hours.  Came in for a break and a surfer was going out and didn't want to sit out there alone (safety in number when the bait fish are jumping as much as they have been lately) so I ended up going back out another time.  Just me and a surfer on the outside sandbar scoring some great waves. SWEET!!!!!

Then again this morning.....A little smaller but NO WIND!!  YES!!!  I paddled 2 miles up to the Inlet on my PSH 10' and scored an amazing day.  Waist high glassy with just a little wind after a while.  Had an area all to myself until another SUP came out.  He was new and a little nervous so i helped him out (paddling, stance, etc).  We were the only ones out and getting great waves.  Cannot even remember how many I got.
So just another great SUP day.

Random / What do you do when you can't SUP?
« on: March 19, 2008, 06:57:10 PM »
Everyday I have off I SUP, or at least try.  But in the wintertime I still snowboard.  Been riding for about 17 years and teaching at Stratton Vt for 13 years.  Its a nice crossover for my surfing/windsurfing and SUP.  Just wondering what else people do.  Here's a pic.

Events / Florida SUP session
« on: February 13, 2008, 10:06:04 AM »
I know I have brought this up before, but now as I see more and more guys coming on the board from both side of the FL coast I think it is time we get something together.  How about in the next couple of weeks we get a SUP session together for all the Florida guys (and anyone else who wants to join)?  I was thinking maybe something over on the east coast so we get some waves (anywhere is fine, but maybe Ft.Pierce would be a good netural ground for north/south/east /west people.  I anyone else interested in this?  Maybe we can do a little article on this?  I am off 7 days at a day (work 7 on 7 off) so I was thinking something on a weekday as the crowds would be smaller.  If anyone else has any ideas let me know but I think this would be a great FUN event to get everyone together.
