Hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know because I haven't seen anyone else post from my area (LBI, NJ) yet but as I'm sure you've seen from photos and the news that pretty much all of the barrier islands of NJ have been completely devastated. My house is about 1/2 mile from the Barnegat Bay and I'm one of the lucky ones to have it still standing, no flooding and I have power restored. I consider myself extremely lucky. Homeowners and Business owners on Long Beach Island still have not been back to their homes to assess damages and most likely won't be for another week or more. The National Guard are there now protecting homes from looters who are trying to enter the island by boat under the cover of darkness....it's bad. There are new inlets, gas fires, sand everywhere, boats piled up like toys, gas and oil spillage and devastating bridge damages. Our beautiful beaches, waterways and fishing is destroyed as we know it.
I just wanted to let you all know since there isn't a huge NJ presence on this board what is going on. There's so much destruction it looks like a war zone over here. There is a huge surf community along the Jersey Shore and especially Long Beach Island. Local surf/clothing company Jetty has designed a relief t-shirt which will go to the victims of the storm and aid rebuilding the area us New Jersians know and love. Check out jettylife.com to donate.
If there is anyone local to me (Waretown) that still doesn't have power, hit me up for a warm shower, place to stay or even to recharge your cell.
I lived on LBI for many years and still go back every year. A couple of my friends stayed on LBI during the storm. All are still there with some amazing yet sad photos. I have been getting others to support by getting the Jettylife tshirts. Its a great tshirt and will go to those people on LBI. They need all the help they can get as it is going to be a long road to recovery.

I used to have O'Neill for years but switched to Body Glove last year. For both surf and SUP I have bought the Vapor suits. I have two in FL and NJ. I use a LS shorti and 3/2 full suit for SUP and surf in FL. For up in NJ I have the 3/2 and 4/3 full suit with the vapor booties. This is a great wind proof suit that is durable, easy to take on and off and is flexible.
Another thing is the sizing. They really seem to fit better , for me at least.

Saw the boards at Surf Expo. The boards looked great and very light. Cannot wait to see some out here on the east coast. Also all the guys at SIC are great to deal it too. Very nice product!! Hope to see some shops carry them on the east coast.

I like the 8'2s! No need for wide boards. Those are what SUP shapes should look like. Very nice quiver!

tough stuff -it looks a lot like the classic bic windsurfer construction, or so it would seam.
It's ACETEC basically I'd you are familiar with that. Very durable and fairly light.

Rainwaves, another thing to add about the BIC boards. They are one of the few companies that actually publishes board weights. Something you do not see alot of from other companies. I like the honesty

Saw it this past week. Did not get to try it but picked it up etc. The one I picked up was 33lbs as described. Nice clean shape and going to be durable as well.

Saw one in person. Actually a pretty cool shape. I am not into big boards but looks like would be fun on an outter sandbar with the quad setup. Might have to pick one up next spring.
Enjoy it ! I like the all white too!

what paddle surf hawaii is Ross holding the black and white one?
Looks like the 9'1 Hull Ripper Pro? The Starboard carbon wave boards looked sweet too! I bet they are SUPER light. DJ is the 91HR pro a full carbon? Do you know? And what were the other Starboard wave sizes in that photo?

just one .... i really thought i would have more responses...i guess this is more of a downwind forum or race etc. Any surfers out there hellllllllloooooooooooooooooo LOL
I am 5'10 185-190 and went from Big Blue to a PSH 10' and then a PSH 9'6 ripper. Really could have made the jump right to the smaller as the stability was not an issue. I ride east coast waves and we get a lot of onshore winds here and the 9'6 ripper worked fine. I used a friends 9'11 ripper up in NJ back in Oct. Was very stable and smooth rail to rail Plenty of float for me and I was using it in waist high semi choppy surf. Worked great. I think there are quite a few choices in the mid to upper 9's. PSH, Starboard, Naish all have great shapes in those sizes.

Looks like there will be some fun surf for tomorrow. Hopefully the winds will stay down. Cant wait to see everyone out!

Nice review DJ. The thing I like is boards are finally starting to get thinner. There is no need for such thick board even for a larger guy (non beginner). I am 190 and not light but want a thinner rail overall. TDE glad you like yours as I am planning on getting one in the spring. Going to go a little smaller in the size but think it will be a great setup in certain conditions here in FL.
