Bob that dream was spot on for the surf in York today (Libby.s)...4-5 ft faces, clean slight offshores and I was alone...me and two seals.
I will also add it was the 1st time in my life I have ever worn a full suit

Hey Kona what beaches were you surfing today? I used to surf Cisco and Madaket in the 80s where are the popular breaks these days?

I am not sure of the mast base attachment/set up for most SUPs , but one valuable accessory you can buy to keep the boom or mast form hitting the board is the Deviator http://www.isthmussailboards.com/prodinfo.asp?number=DV82it deflects the falling mast and prevents it from hitting board rental operations swear by them

I don't know...maybe with newspapers, but there is nothing quite like the smell and feel of opening up a new magazine or book. I think this electronic media has it's place, but I still like collecting better issues and keeping them on my shelves.
Besides, I would hate to be on a long flight and the batteries die on my e-book so I can't finish the magazine article...

good choice and good thing you demoed first...
I just bought the Coreban Rockett as well for my Caribbean place...can't wait to try it on some outer reefs next month.

I much prefer the sport tech finish. After having two classics fail within weeks of receiving them and my sport tech lasting for years with minimal damage, I might be biased.
The grip was ok for me to surf on. I do wear booties. I do prefer the deck pad on the sport tech for comfort.
I hope my two were the unusual lemons and everyone else gets good boards instead of it being a mfg problem.
Hi Tuberider, how did the boards "fail" what do you mean exactly?

there's a simple reason for that: This is a better way of surfing.
You can do more, catch more waves, do other stuff, get into better shape, and use your board for everything but towing water skiiers. [/quote]
I agree 100% this IS a better way of surfing and has opened up a new world of surfing possibilites. I will taking my SUP down to my Caribbean house in 2 weeks, and I cannot wait. There are so many reef breaks that I never would have attempted exploring before, but on a SUP it will be easy. Also on the rare day when it is flat, paddling and exploring the coast and outer deserted islands with my wife will be so much fun and great exercise. I am 48 and my only regret is that I didn't start this 20 years ago But at the same time I know it is going to extend my surfing life 15 years or more. I am sure Corky is eating SUP up but being a little low key about it as to not contradict himself.

you have to see and feel these boards in person to see how well they are made. I compare them to the Zodiac inflatable dinghys ...these are not your cheap vinyl rafts The first time I actually felt one I could see what all the fuss was about, and after standing on one on land, I couldn't believe it was inflatable because it was rock hard

If there's salt in the water there's sharks in it... No fences in the ocean either.
actually there are fences in the ocean. I was in Airlie Beach, Australia in the 80s and you actually had to swim within a large wooden fenced in area. I think the fence was actually to keep the deadly box jelly fish out
