SUP General / Wii game system« on: December 19, 2009, 09:18:47 PM »
If any of you need last minute gift ideas may I suggest the Wii gaming system with balance board
It isnt just for kids there are many games for adults many of which might help with your SUP. The Yoga and fitness games are amazing and they focus alot on improving balance which is perfect for us. They even have one game which includes stand up paddling in it. (cardio workout) I did the Yoga today for 1 hr and it KICKED my butt tons of fun though and perfect when it is freezing outside. This is a serious interactive workout machine and I HIGHLY recommend it Merry Christmas 169
SUP General / St.Vincent reef break« on: October 27, 2009, 10:02:20 AM »
Off to my island home next week for 16 days. Pictured are two outer reef breaks I surf alot on the island of St.Vincent. My home is on the island of Bequia in the Grenadines seen in the distance 9 miles away. I have to take an hour ferry to get between islands but well worth it. These are in the lower Windward Islands chain
The last photo photo is the break below my house as seen from my deck.. ...great windsurfing there too I keep all my gear in a shed on the beach below rigged and ready to go This will be my first time with a SUP board and I am amped up So many opportunities. Hope to come back with good action photos. 172

Gear Talk / ding repair putty« on: August 12, 2009, 12:42:52 PM »
Saw an article/review on this "Session Saver" ding repair on surfline. Looks like great stuff and unlike some other ding repair kits DOESN"T need sun to cure. It's the size of lifesavers so it would fit in your pocket too.
I used similar product on windsurfers but they always required sunlight to cure..this stuff would be perfect repair the board at night and be ready in the morning for your next session. www.sessionsaver.com 175
Gear Talk / Coreban Performer photos« on: August 06, 2009, 08:25:42 AM »
With much thanks to Randy/Admin I have figured out how to post these photos of my new board, the 9 6 Coreban Performer. I am really impressed with the shape and quality of the board and paddle and will have a go on flat water later today

Gear Talk / Coreban hitting the US market« on: August 02, 2009, 06:41:31 AM »
http://www.coreban.com/
saw the updated website with catalogue. They have some very interesting shapes and good pricing. I ordered a 9 6 Performer arrives this week will post photos and a review ...thought I would give the new guy a chance. Their waterman's package comes with board, pad, carbon paddle, extra fin, board bag and shipping at a great price. I enjoy watching Ivan surf and he is a super nice guy as is everyone at this company still going to order a PSH for the winter in Caribbean so don't worry Blaine 177
Gear Talk / any good waterproof watch recommendations?« on: July 28, 2009, 10:21:10 AM »
My G-Shock is on it's last legs and it might be time to replace. I love G Shocks, but they are so big and bulky I was hoping someone could recommend a good reliable, durable waterproof watch for all waterpsorts. Anyone wear a Freestyle?
Thanks in advance 178

Sessions / Big , empty Kittery Point, ME« on: July 24, 2009, 09:54:53 PM »
Had an amazing late Friday afternoon session at Seapoint Beach in Kittery Point, ME. All day it was POURING rain and winds gusted as much as 45 knots. I had pretty much written the day off waiting for Saturday, but late in the day the sun creeped out and wind died so I thought I would check the local beach.....
It is a well protected bay and this beach rarely breaks but today it was PERFECT 6 -7 ft faces 100 yard lefts and because noone surfs in this town and it is a private resident only beach, I had it all to myself. It is VERY rocky and I admit initially I was hoping somebody would join me, but after a few cautious waves I had the break figured out. I paddle here for exercise when it is calm, so luckily I knew where most of the rocks were.. 180
The Shape Shack / Please explain downwinder...?« on: July 15, 2009, 02:09:16 PM »
Don't want to sound like an idiot but could somebody please explain a downwinder both the shape and the word?
Am I to believe you paddle these boards down wind only? Is there a car waiting for you to take you back? Are they too narrow or difficult to raddle back up wind? Thanks |
