Kind of in the same situation riding a 5’10” x 28 130 liter when I tried sup foiling. Wasn’t thrilled... I wing on a smaller 90 liter board. I do see a lot of Sup foilers going longer and narrower with their boards so I am guessing there is an advantage. Plenty of YouTube videos. Check out some of downwinder foil boards.

I go back and forth on this question all the time. I am 63 my wife is 50 and we own a sales agency and rep different brands in the Caribbean. It's profitable, fun and every island trip a business expense, so I don't see me retiring for a few years but you never know. `
There's no good reason to retire if your work doesn't beat the shit out of you. I have some acquaintances in Hood River who do physically taxing labor, but they are making 2 to 3X more money than they ever did before and can't find anyone to take over their business. Retirement was a useful concept when people died at 60. Not so much when you will probably see 90.
Good point Bill. The job was grueling pre Covid when I was expected to travel a lot and that sucked at times. Customers learned during Covid a zoom call can be as good as a physical sales call, so we pick and choose our trips and make sure they are fun and involve water sports and rum.

Thanks B-W. It is odd. Later today after my original post i had a 55 minute foil session and my watch reading seemed accurate. I like your explanation of the watch registering top speed as result of a fast crash. Fortunately I was on foil the entire session and never wiped out either session. Maybe just a hiccup with the watch

anyone have the Garmin Instinct watch? when I wing foil I use the windsurfing app and it has been showing really high max speed readings which I know are not true..yesterday's max speed was 28 knots 32mph. no way that's accurate.

Upon further examination on dry land it appears as though both ends of the connection/inflation hose dry rotted. Looks to me like a soft rubber nozzle on either end and both tore cleanly off at the widest part which would fit into the other end. Guess I’ll have to bring back to US for a replacement.

Heard a hissing from my F-One Swing wing today and when I got to shore I noticed it was leaking badly at the strut inflation hose on one end. I tried securing it and it stopped the leak for a few seconds and then but just came off..the other end pulled off easily too. Did these break off or are they glued on and maybe the glue broke down from hot Caribbean weather over the years? Thanks in advance. Don

Check out Liquid Blue Cabarete..they offer rentals, lessons and have a ton of interesting videos on YouTube. I am sure they arrange or can recommend accommodation as well...

Not where your travel begins, you might want to start with these guys in Miami. https://www.wind-addict.com/pages/about-usIf they don't rent gear I am sure that can tell you who does in the area..

wow solid report and you obviously love the board. I've been reading so much about these shapes, but have yet to actually see one on the water or know anyone who owns want. 20"wide..wow common sense would say the board would be tippy but reports tell just the opposite. looking forward to seeing some videos and seeing one in person.

I have a home in Vero Beach and SUP surf up in Melbourne. Seeing the wetsuits and water color, I am guessing those photos are from winter. .Spring can have nice waves with beautiful water and warm weather. Plenty of uncrowded breaks with miles of beach and parking. It’s a good destination and probably most consistent surf in the state.
