I still haven't had it in a wave yet but I took it out for a 6 mile paddle to Brown's bank last week. I wouldn't call them waves but it gets so crazy with all the conflicting currents that chop was coming from 3 different directions. Frequently looks like a washing machine and is a great place for me to get some balance therapy. I worked out in it for a half hour and was gassed. Took a break on the bank and ate lunch....such an awesome place. I was sitting on my board in 6" of water without another soul within a mile. One of the folks on a local FB page said they saw me out there from their boat and were just about to call the harbor master that someone was stranded way out with the tide rising when she saw me get up and start paddling.
Lots of fish in the bay...even a small 6 foot blue shark that let me get close before she took off. I think her belly was full of fish, either that or pregnant.

It is a great fit.
I suck more than I used too but it's still fun.
Paddling the virtual CCBC this year on it....15 miles is going to be a challenge for me this year but I can't wait to get on the water with a small crew of close friends. The route has us entering a river mouth where there is usually surf.....some very long rides if there are waves. Always fun to surf during a CCBC..... :). We'll take a break at my buddy Tim's place which is on an island at the river mouth, recharge our hydration packs, etc...then paddle up the river to Levitate surf shop. Going to be a great day!

The sticker is on my truck.

Creek knew I was interested in a Search Point Break and when he heard about a very gently used one available he gave me a call. I've been out on it twice and love the way it feels and paddles. can't wait for some surf to get it in.

Tragic...sorry to hear Carib.

Our beaches were closed for awhile today, supposed sighting of a GW near the beach. Lots of bait and seals in the water.

Finally finished this. I'm wondering if I should just leave it as is or put it into a coffee table or something. I'm going to do a few pieces to auction for Christopher's Haven. The CCBC is still on albeit virtual but I doubt we'll raise the usual $$'s.

I still haven't gotten over to this spot in a NE swell yet....I'm picturing a nice A-frame..... 8)

There are almost endless great paddles out there, and if anything they are even more personal than boards. I tried a lot of different ones in the early days. I'm biased of course but I haven't paddled anything but Kenalu in years. Elite Maliko 95 for surf and Konihi 94 for distance/flatwater. I like the full carbon shaft for surf for the instant response and the xTuf S for distance or I need to give my shoulders a break. Hot glue makes swapping components easy.

I played around all over the place, longer, shorter, real short. Came back almost full circle....shaka overhead for flatwater, 3" overhead for surf.

And I got the landscaping all done out front. 3 days of agony in my shoulders from all the concrete, stone dust, pavers and especially moving that granite blab bench from my old house to this one. It was a lot easier to move the 1st time I did it 30 years ago. That slab is actually from the steps to Boston City Hall....:)

Not as exciting as playing on it but I was happy to get this done. The gorge at the hood....shit...I should have used that for the title....:). Terrain image map converted to a 3D model.
The new CNC is finally working flawlessly. A little pyrography for the water surface, and I burned the frame. A little danish oil for a finish. On its way to Pono shortly.

Already said....whatever works for you. I've had to knee paddle many times. I've learned to love chop but  it wasn't always that way....fog kills me....my balance goes to hell.

Mine was good too.....5 yards of stone dust delivered at 8:00. I was moving gravel and dirt preparing to lay some pavers. I was a bit overpowered with a large shovel so i switched to a smaller spade. No wind in the morning and it was warm so i was sweating my ass off. Felt great when it got a little breezy and cooler in the afternoon.....my shoulders are killing me too ........:)

Glad you had a good one bro. I'm getting on the water tomorrow for some flat water cruising. Oh and the new machine came today, got it set up tonight and ran a test cut....looking good.

You hit all the high points on the poplar....cheap being the biggest reason.....:)

I've been doing a lot of looking at things like freecycle, craigslist, and FB marketplace for stuff that folks are getting rid of. I have a solid cherry coffee table and two end tables that I'm going to carve. I'm planning on doing the map on the top of the coffee table and doing an epoxy pour with some blue tint. Hopefully it will be nice enough to auction for charity. Lots of free stuff out there and I like repurposing it.....especially when I'm giving it away....:)

Yeah my shoulders have been toast too. Our house is located on Rocky Point/Rocky Hill....very appropriately named. Digging a hole for a each fence post is 15 mins+ of hard digging with rocks that require a long lever to move...I always end up with a hole 4 or 5 times bigger than needed just to get deep enough.
I was at HD this morning....still a 10 min line to check out. I used to go whenever I needed something...5 mins from my house but now I wait until I have a bunch of items to buy.

We have surf coming tomorrow. My wife is off and has agreed to drive so I should finally get out....:)

Nice looking spot.

I haven't tried using the project feature in Google Earth yet and I imagine the tools are similar but you might find it easier to make maps in Google maps....you can still share them in google earth by exporting the kml or kmz file. I've been using Google maps to create maps for 10 years or so. I just exported this one to KMZ and it opens in Earth perfectly (not the web based version for some reason though).

This it in Google maps, unfortunately I can't attach the KMZ here.

WOW!

Who ever thought the world could change so much since late February, the last time I posted on this thread.

I'm still doing better than I was but this shutdown and less watertime has my head more than a bit screwed up of late. I've also kind of failed at keeping to the diet and keeping on track with workouts. Less water time was my own decision but I'm about to start back up now that things are opening back up.

I've been spending far too much time trying to get my CNC to function reliably. I could build one myself now since I've basically rebuilt everything but the frame on this one but to no avail. Now the manufacturer is sending me an upgraded model to replace this one. Should be here this week. They're still scratching their heads about what is causing the problems but it's definitely temperature related....under 50 degrees and it starts skipping. Not just my machine but a couple handfuls of the 200 or so made back in December of last year having similar issues. It's been a pain but I learned a lot and the models and designs I'm working on will keep the new one very busy when it gets here.

I was finally able to get it to cut a full sized version of the chart model since we had a few warm days in a row and it was working OK. I still need to add the roads and some place names but I'll wait for the new machine to get here since installing the laser in this one and then having to remove it doesn't make sense.

Yard work has replaced the gym. I've gotten a lot done, mostly spring cleanup stuff, especially eradicating asian bittersweet but a couple of good sized projects as well.

I moved my shed forward 20' and built a fenced enclosure in back of it to hide all my junk and other stuff you don't want to be looking at all the time...wood pile, compost heap, etc. It's also where I'll do chainsaw/power carving so it's always a mess of chips and sawdust.

I just poured the footing for these stairs. That made me feel old....I remember when 80 lb bags of cement were easy to move and mix....19 bags. By the time I did the last one I could hardly pick it up...:(. The pavers and such will be getting delivered next Monday.....evidently EVERYONE is doing landscape improvements. The materials company business is off the charts right now....delivery is usually within a couple days. I've wanted to do this since we moved in....hated the stairs that were there and the landscaping wasn't to our taste.
