I rode 8+ foot foil boards for several years and found that mast placement made a huge difference.

An extension plate sounds like putting a pipe on the end of a wrench, and then wondering why the boxes ripped out of the board so easily and being stuck 2 miles offshore.

I put a second set of boxes in several boards, even some of the second box installs were lazily done (we didn't know what would work back then), seems like spreading the load over 4 boxes allowed us to get by with just setting the second set into weak foam.

Thanks.  Not many takers on the bigger swell, and the one smaller spot was way to crowded.

winging been on 105 for a couple years.  Tried 90 the other day on multiple foils and hated it, no noticeable benefit and had safety foil to keep the wing in the water.

I suspect me being tall with long iimbs and big feet gives me more leverage to influence bigger gear.

Affordable interchangeable durable masts, wonderful and very good for foilers to have this option.

So are the adapters connected to the mast by butt joint?  Or is there some male/female connection going on in addition to the bolts?  How deep are the threads?  Love to hear Kyle's design thoughts on this.

One of the things I love about the Axis doodad and the F-one titan foot is that a loose bolt isn't a big deal, and bolts never come loose.  With the slingshot aluminum mast to fuse a bolt would occasionally come loose and be a session ender.

Digging this thread, thanks for sharing Dwight.  Fun to see friends in your videos gives me a better baseline for how big the swell is.

This swell got me excited to foil surf, first time in summer I have ridden my smallest foil.

I have zero control over the 499,999,999.9 pounds of PTFE each year.

I have 100% control over the 0.1 pounds that I am NOT using.

Safe and effective?

So whats the safe ingestible dose of tefgel for marine life? Birds?  Kids?

What's your alternative Clay?

I have been using this grease since April 2019:

Gone over a year without disassembling my foil, zero seizing.

Foil SUP / Re: Changing to F-One foils? Would love some advice!

At first I was put off by the airplane design, seemed like a lot of screws and a pain to change wings.

After a couple years I think it's the best design - bomb proof, durable, corrosion free, zero play.  If they get masts sorted out they will have the best system out there.

Foil SUP / Re: HA wings

In a nutshell HA wings are faster more slippery through the water and have a higher stall speed, someone with the fundamentals of foiling dialed can handle it and for a beginner it just leads to faster out of control gnarlier crashes.  They are wider by definition so need to have the sensitivity to know when the tips are close to the surface and/or how to ride tips out.

I just made a video talking about mid/high/true high aspect wings:

Mickey gave glowing comments on his, direct input and control in a good way.

New video, impressive to see so many people sending it.  Having seen some epic days here, I can imagine what a really good day at the gorge looks like.

Sick Clay, the swell looks awesome. One thing I appreciate about this spot is how clean it can be, where exposed spots in 20+ knots down the coast can mean gnarly surface conditions.

One of these days I'll run into you between MRY-SF. I don't know if racing is your thing but the parking lot vibes are great. There's one at Crissy later this month.

Right on, I often find myself there unknowingly on race night.

Wild, looks like further south at lover's point.  3 times in around 10 years in that zone, relatively few surfers in that whole 50 miles of beach as most of it is poor quality beach break.  I often get spooked there even though the really big ones seem to be outside the bay.  Hoping for a full recovery.
