Agree with TD on wider straps. I like Dakine Baha. Also run an extra strap through vehicle for complete peace of mind and back up. Check out Blue Planet on YouTube several interesting strapping vids to a prius.

Great tip! Here is another one. waterproof gorilla tape will seal anything including dings for quite some time until you get around to it.

Padded bars and dakine baha straps work awesome Or steel core straps to lock extra strap through vehicle if on highway. Pool noodles split for stacking and cinching. Simple and never fails. People who have thule sup taxi seem to like it. Looks similar

You never know. Thought this 7 inch stinger would be grossly underfinned in a touring board. Works really well even in chop.

Had good luck with XM and Dakine. Recently got an Ocean and Earth that seems quality.

Generation yes. Waterline no. Its for flats. I have a 12 2 freeride for your stated purpose. Does well especially downwind. Ridiculous stability. Have my eye on the generation. They are selling like hot cakes. Looks like the original freeride. Nothing wrong with that. Bark vapor 14 for sure Or maybe a last generation concave bottom allstar. New ones faster and more tippy.

Frequently. Two on bars. One through cab. Very secure. Dakine Baha best cam buckle straps i have had. Thule make a thicker one too. Most are pretty good though. Avoid dangerous bungies rail crunching ratchet straps. If a lot of sun and salt exposure let them go at any sign of wear. Cheap insurance for your boards and especially those around you. Board on top is a 14

I’ve had them and honestly you’re better off with some quality straps and a couple of foam blocks and run the straps through the vehicle much more secure blue planet has a video on this if you go to the YouTube channel other than that Thule have been good for me on multiple cars and trucks. I also favor a safety strap through the vehicle regardless of rack at highway speed

Gear Talk / Re: What would be the best use for these fins ?« on: July 05, 2020, 04:52:42 PM »
Yes. Only use it for flat or minimal chop. I had a thresher that worked good in rough stuff but too long for the starboard box. Thinking the dolphin pivot or spartan would work if they fit.

Interesting you mention that stinger fin. I use one in my starboard free ride which has a fin box way back when it is calm it’s not quite enough for the rough stuff Or downwind at least for me. Love la fins.
