I love my Starboard Whopper - 10' x 34" x 4 1/3" 171L - w/ FCS GL-1 fins. I bought it for a girlfriend as a harbor paddler. However once I got it in the surf with the GL-1 fins it really came alive. This SUNOVA Point Break looks like it will be even better than the Whopper in the surf with the additional glide and the narrower width. I don't think I can get in on this order but we will see.

That looks a like one hell of a fun board. How much are these things?

I am surprised to see Dave putting tracks in his boards now. He was dead set against using them due to failures and would only install tuttles. What is he doing now when he installs the tracks to keep them in place?

I would rather have a cheaper new wetsuit than an expensive old wetsuit. I buy all of mine through Quicksilver's website. If they don't fit right you can take it into any Quicksilver store to swap it out or get a full refund. The Syncro Plus goes for $199 but you can get 15% off with an email address coupon. It has all the same features as O-Neill's TB3 but at half the cost. These suits have served me well and last me two seasons, surfing on average 2 to 3 days a week. After that they start to stretch out and leak water. Still usable and work well just not as good as when new.

These boards were made for SoCal waves. Stoked to hear you like your new ride. As you can tell I am a fan of them as well. I bought all of mine (used) off of Craigslist as well... .

Ha...ha...ha happened to me on vacation on Kauai, I surfing at Poipu Beach. I got greedy and paid the price. After the water receded, I was left with a few inches of water over the reef. Stepped on a sea urchin trying to get back to deeper water. Soaked my foot in vinegar and was good to go in a day or so. A lesson was learned that day.

Very similar to Dave's voice but missing the SoCal voice cadence. Also Dave's hardware can is a rusty mismatch of semi stripped out allen and phillip heads... . He swaps out setups so often, he give's zero f*cks. Just hammers ways with the impact drill. I swapped out my tuttle mount bolts for stainless steel hex heads long ago. This is definitely a very creative solution to track mounts. The way they allow for shims and the bolts to line up is frick'in brilliant.

Home Depot sells realtor lock boxes as well. I've been using them for years on all of my vehicles.

All this stupid talk about foiling made me take out the foil today, thanks guys.... . I moved the whole fuselage forward about 3/4 of an inch (mine's a custom fuselage that's been cnc out with multiple mounting holes). I also tried a new spot with a crumbling weakass wave, similar to Sano's Dog Patch. It was one of my better foiling sessions but honestly I would have rather been on my Whopper. The longboarders were having way more fun on the set waves while I just rode straight trying to keep my balance. I was able to catch one wave and ride it down the line instead of just going straight in the mushie white wash. It still felt kinda boring compared to sup surfing...meh.

Dear god really....you picked Mike Murphy, the guy who invented the airchair. He has probably more time on a foil than anyone else alive. ...ha...ha...ha....classic.

Foiling is definitely a different animal. Only a few select pro's can do anything aggressive in the face of a wave on a foil. It is mostly long drawn out turns but at a much higher speed then on a sup. It is still a lot of fun when done on the right equipment, in a foil friendly location. Seems crazy to me that people look for sh*tty small waves to foil when surf is good and firing for sup surfing.

Well OK, if comparing apples to oranges is the point of the thread, compare a sup guy to this...

...kinda silly, huh?
Well actually, if comparing apples to oranges is the point of the thread, compare a sup foiling guy to this... https://youtu.be/2ZZg1id9Rwk?t=50...using Zane as an example is really...really silly, huh?
