I think if you wanted to chase Great Whites out of an area that some Orca hunting chatter would work. Nothing seems to bother the Great Whites in the Farallons  except a pod of Orcas--then they vanish and don't come back for quite a while.

Has this ever been tried at sharky beaches?
 Underwater speakers or similar?

Watched a program the other day of an Orca immobilizing a GW, then eating it's liver once the shark died. Was at the Farallons.
Orcas arrived, GWs vanished.

Kinda nice to know that GWs are afraid of an animal that doesn't harm humans!

Oh the stupid things we did in our youth, and I would probably not do now.
I grew up in southern Florida and will go bass fishing in the Everglades on a frequent basis. We would Wade in the water casting and catching bass all day long. One of the things you did was to make sure your leader of fish that you had caught was at least 5 feet from your body in case a gator come up to get the fish.
I remember one day after fishing for hours, we got out of the water and walked along the causeway and saw close to a half-dozen gators where we had just been wading.
Believe it or not, most gators scare really easy and will disappear when you approach them.
How the hell did I get to 50 yrs old doing crap like that I'll never know.

Regional / Re: SUP on Aruba

Cryogenic revival to this thread.
Going back to Aruba May 28-June 4.
I see there about two places that rent standup paddleboard in Aruba. But I don't see anything that looks reasonable for a weekly rental rate.

Any new updates on rental places in Aruba in the last year?

What a bummer indeed.
I have a 9'0 G&S longboard, barely used. Thought about selling but don't think I can now.

Wow, memories. I did about 7 consecutive adult snowboard camps at Mt Bachelor. Such great times, experience and progress. I recognize so many of those, runs, hits and uggh, cat tracks.
Good stuff, fun videos.

In snowboarding we always use the mantra "two more runs but let's skip the last". Must injuries happen on the last run!

Awesome Feral!

Those are the best waves that camera has ever seen, I surf on a lake after all.

Look forward to many more videos.

There's an easier way with the iPhone, press and hold the home button, then use voice command to dial.

No need to unlock the phone either.

Press and hold till it beeps then simply say: call 911

Or, Call Fred, or whomever in your contacts.

Now with Siri, you don't even need to push the button, just say "Hey Siri, call 911".
This could be especially useful if you can't get your hands on your phone for some reason.

Siri has gotten much better, it's quite useful when driving. "Hey Siri, read text message ". She reads any unread messages and then prompts you to respond, all via voice.

Wow.
Amazing what small waves you can "ride".
Perfect for us fresh water surfers!

Have you read any of the O'Reilly books like Killing Lincoln?
Really good read, very well done.

Cool, but pricey!
Personally, I love my Ripstik for cross training on land. Quite the workout up moderate hills, great carving on flats or slight downhills. Can do full apex carves too.

For no particular reason, haven't been here in awhile.
Great thread!

My ski patrol buddy's young daughters are now riding snowboards I gave him that my two daughters both learned on. it's great to see the same stoke in their eyes my daughters had when they were learning!

Haven't given any SUP stuff away yet, but did loan a buddy my iSUP for his spring break.

Good Karma.

Right and goofy. Fairly confident going switch on SUP and snowboard but not on skateboards.
