Flatwater and Touring / Re: Recommended FLAT WATER board

Well, if you are going to go to that level of trouble for a board, why not get a custom from Joe Bark himself?

THIS! That blue and black Savage River reminds me of really old Bark boards built for Jimmy Terrell. He knows a thing or two
about flat water.  ::)

I took a production 24 out for spin and it was stable with a single fin. Can only imagine how much more those big side fins add. Awesome deal for someone especially since the fin set alone is pricey!

Ya, agree with Bill. A custom extra strong tank of an unlimited may survive. But not one of these all out light race builds. It's need a full wood crate to survive that trip.

I wonder just how different yours paddles vs mine.
My Richmond has the chines and double concave.

Which board would I benefit more from, the BF or the Whiplash?  I'm 6'7", 210-215#, so getting a 26" wide board with the Allison 4 fin setup is intriguing to me.  Or should I be considering a 26" Naish Javelin, or an Allstar 24.5" or 27".
Your thoughts will be appreciated.

How do you like your boards to "feel?" I believe the SIC you have
feels more lively, whereas the others are "locked in."

To go even faster get an unlimited length board. 14' is fast for SUP, but the fastest craft out there are surf ski's which usually range from 18' to 21' long.

For the 14's, try before you buy. Not all 14's are fast.

I was on a 19'6" x 24.75 unlimited for the last couple years. Went and paddled a 14x24 Blackfish.....and felt like I was paddling in mud. Ha!

I agree with most above though...OP should be just fine on a 14x24 or 25 whip.

The Shape Shack / Re: Hard Rails
« on: June 02, 2017, 12:18:15 AM »

I've seen hard rails (sharp some folks call them) on a Rawson custom but not like yours, these were a down rail with a hard edge and they went all the way to the nose.

Take a look at a Focus Bluefin race board. Pretty sure that nose to tail hard rail was Rawsons doing.

Any Infinity Blackfish in the top 10? Sounds like it might have been at home in that slop if they live up to all the accolades here on the zone.

There were no Infinities near the front of the course, but that's probably because they're rare here in Florida. Sometimes I see them but I've never seen any of the really fast racers on one.

Total opposite of what we saw at the Malibu Downwinder on Saturday.  The Blackfishes dominated the top 10.

Curious what fin everyone has paired up to their X14's? And regarding the volume, dont think it's anywhere near the 300 mark. My Bark was pushing 280 and was way fatter/thicker than the X14.
