Ocean - where are you guys going to be Caribbean side or Pacific?...  Great winds on the N Pacific side during that time... perfect for kite / windsurf...  great surf all up and down the Pacific coast too.....  I've spent the last 6 years down there in the winter.. let me know if you need any info...  have a blast!

Hi, Wondering if you's found some info on good spots yet? We're coming to Costa Rica from Jan - March 2016 on our 48ft sailboat and looking for waves to surf, kite, windsurf, paddleboard....  Going to be doing a lot of exploring of the coast, looks amazing! We have a spare double cabin if you maybe wanted to join us for a bit while you're there?!! Have fun guys, Sylvia

Jet Blue has always had a fantastic surfboard policy....  Ive used them MANY times traveling back and forth to Costa Rica....  last time I checked though it looked like it changed.......I'm gonna look again...

Definitely time on the ocean is what you need to gain stability...  forget about flat water unless you wanna work on your paddle stroke....

I would say better lefts in Langosta. They are only 5 minutes away from each other. Langosta is much less crowded than Tamarindo, so it all depends on what you want and if you'll have a car etc, etc. I'm in Langosta now...

Hey Erik, can you post some pics of the outside of the restaurant where you are living?  We have some friends who were just there and think they know the place... They have some stories about the strongest margaritas in town....

CRTraveller - hi.  i'm headin down there on feb 2, gotta do some work on a friends house just south of playa negra, but love to hook up for a session.  maybe you can advise- is it worth renting a board for two wks, is it possible ?!

Definitely possible and worth it.... but it's also pretty prob gonna be a little cheaper to bring your own depending on who you fly with....

If you want to rent...   www.costaricasupadventures.com    in Tamarindo is the only outfit I would recommend...give Marco a call, he's a great guy and a Zoner and he'll give you a great board at a very reasonable price....

PM me if you'd like to get together for a surf or paddle sometime when you are there...

Went to Hermosa, Esterillos Centro, some places around Caldera, Nosara and a few spots around there.  Broke my leg in Hermosa!  My son is headed there Friday for a week-he's prolly hitting Mal Pais/santa Teresa with some friends unless it blows up in Pavones (unlikely this time of yr).

Never flown AA, but JetBlue is super easy...up to 15' and 100# for $50 each way.....cant beat that... don't know if they fly to Nicaragua though.....

Just Back-waves were awesome, took my 9.10 AW and it was amazing in overhead waves.  Forgot what an all purpose board they really are!

Where did you end up catching good surf?  How was the trip?
