A wise man once told me retirement was the best career decision you will ever make.

Good luck.

First injury the surgeon was dictated by my insurance company.  Second injury I lucked out, the ER had a great orthopedist on call that day.  As far as a referral ask friends or your personal physician.

As someone who has ruptured both Achilles tendons I feel qualified to give some advice.  Don't do the sport that led to the injury ever again.  My mistake was thinking I could go play tennis again, 5 years later, and there would be no problem.  I was wrong.

Recovery time: Depends on your doctor and the quality of your physical therapy.  My first injury it took 5 months before i was back in the water.  The second injury I had a better orthopedic surgeon and excellent physical therapy and was back in action in 3 months.  You'll be fine and shouldn't have any future complications.

Good luck and a speedy rehab.

Rubber shower mat with small suction cups on the bottom, you can remove it when you don't need it.  Most home good stores carry them.

Here is what happened to Quicksilver---------Rossignol.  Bought them at an overinflated price and gave it away to get out from under it.

I had my knee joint replaced a little over a year ago.  Knee is great, no more pain.  I gave up a little range of motion but it's no big deal.  Good surgeon and PT are essential if you want a positive outcome.  I was good to go 3 months after surgery.  Kneeling is uncomfortable for awhile but it gets better.

I also have the Hobie 14 and I am very pleased with the construction and performance.  My wife has a 12'6" Bark Surftech and it feels heavier than my Hobie.

The only problem with the Hobie is getting one.  For whatever reason Hobie missed the boat and hasn't produced the necessary boards to meet the demand.  I got mine from Paddleboard Specialists and I truly believe if it were not for Gary Stone I would still be waiting for the slow boat from China to deliver my board.  Gary is a great guy and gives a lot back to the sport and community.  Paddleboard Specialists has their act together.  I am not affiliated with them in any capacity but I can attest to their outstanding customer service.
