Where are you at? Try to demo.

I’m on Oahu. Don’t know of anyone demoing but will do a little digging and see what I can find.

I used to ride Armstrong. The HS1850 with a chopped 300 tail was my favorite.

Now on Axis. Both the HPS and ART wings “paddle” much faster than the HS1850. Less drag, you feel instantly. ART paddles the fastest of all Axis foils.

HPS will feel faster, with more glide, that what you’re on now. Easier drops.

The ART is next level speed and glide.

The BSC is more like the Armstrong HS series.

Thanks DW!

What HPS front, rear wing would you recommend starting with coming off the 1850? How about fuse length? Would you say stick with Axis carbon mask? How does it compare with the Armstrong?

Aloha

Foil SUP / Need some Axis advice for SUP surfing

I’m itching to try a Axis set up for SUP surfing. No winging at this time maybe some DW later.

On Oahu surfing mostly S shore to lazy in my older age to drive. 😆

Board 5’11” 115L Armstrong.

I’m 185 lbs current set up is Armstrong 1850 wing, 60 fuse, 85cm mast, 232 tail. Use this set up for most days up to a few feet overhead. When it’s really small I can still pop up on nonbreaking waves if it’s steep enough. Tried a 1550v1 (before v2) on bigger days but it felt slower and less glide than the 1850 so I  use a chopped 1850, 1” taken off the trailing edge measures out to about 1530 for the big days. Faster more controllable take offs on bigger faces less glide but not needed.

So many choice with Axis. For those out there that SUP foil Axis what would you recommend? If you’ve had time on Armstrong for comparison even better. DW?

Looking to improve pumping and keep surfy feel.

Mahalo in advance!

Aloha Jeff

Foil SUP / Re: Armstrong FG 5.11 riders?
« on: November 02, 2021, 11:08:54 PM »
I’ve been SUPing the 5’11” for about 9 weeks now. 180lbs and am really liking it in every way except for the weight. My wife’s 5’8” is so much lighter. 115L is probably the lowest I would want to go with. I’m still able to paddle into non breaking waves as long as there is a little steep section. But it is much more work than the 6’ Kalama I was using. It’s much more playful on the wave than the 6’ Kalama. Very satisfied with the switch! Next board will be something lighter to help with the pump game.

For those who have been sup foiling for awhile. What brand would you go with?

Borrowing a GoFoil Maliko set up. I’m at the point where I’m able to catch small waves and fly and pump a little. Not many crashes anymore and want  to get my own set up for small mushy waves.

185lbs

Thanks!

Look up Ronco Industry on Instagram Ron Wong Jr. he does excellent work at a very fare price.
I’ve used him for fin box replacement and even a buckled board.
