I am planning to try an Ensis wing and buy one if I like it.

But I read somewhere that there is a V3 coming out soon??

Who knows more about this?

How much can you unsharpen the wingtips without compromising the Kujira?

And how good is the Kujira when breaching a wingtip?

These NSI v-straps look good , they are less then 90 degrees I hope?
Nope, they are industry standard of 90 degrees.
I suppose the foot strap inserts my next board have to be 90 degrees, might be easier to switch stance with a 90 degree setup instead of a sharper angle?
I just hope my foot will not be too close to the windward rail (too far from the centerline)?

NSI and Armstrong have straps you can step on. For me, the NSI is softer and easier on a bare foot.
You can see the NSI straps Iím talking about here. Dimitri is using them. https://www.instagram.com/p/CNdeui_LKPf/?igshid=ijgig3w3ydqn

I have an AXIS V-strap that is 90 degrees that doesn't work with the footstrap inserts of my wingboard.
But NSI is hard to get in Europe I suppose...

Are all the bolts of the Takuma M8 ?
And is the torx size for all of them T40?

I have the 1210 on its way and want to the right stainless steel tools before it arrives.

What Black series wing are you on Dwight? Please expound!

I ride the HPS-980 v1 all the time. I only use the 1050 when I have to use my 6m Ensis. My wife uses the HPS-880 all the time. She only uses her 980 v1 when she has to use the 5.2m Ensis.

So it is one foil for all but the worst light wind days (10-14) for each of us.

I only point out weíre using the v1 980 because, the current equal size/area/lift  v2 HPS (all final production models are v2) is the 930.  So to be crystal clear, the v1 980 compares to the current 930. The v2 980 is bigger foil.
This is the foil sup  forum.
Have you also sup foiled theHPS880 HPS980 and HPS1050?

I would advise you to get a secondhand 1020 and 920 if you can.
They are by far the easiest Axis foils especially to learn sup foiling.
Some people say they have no glide and you cannot pump them but that is nonsense.
They work very well in small and slow waves.

Perhaps the BSC foils are also user-friendly enough for you to learn to sup foil,  but there are very few user reports of them unfortunately

Previously I really liked the 900 in 90% of the conditions...but for the 5% of the time it gets a foot or so+ overhead I'll go to the 760, and 5% the times it's dang near literally flat like above I'd go to the 1000 (before getting the 1050 which is just so much more fun...IMO).

But now I'm finding myself less on the 900, and more on the 890, 910, 980, 1050...and hopefully the 880 sooner than later. 🤞🏽:)
Did you never use the 1010 or 1150 in small waves?

The 890 is a BSC foil. the 910 a PNG foil and the 980 and 1050 are HSP foils.
The 890 (1290cm2),910 (1267cm2) and the 980 (1323cm2) are close in surface.
I am curious what you think of the 890BSC for supfoiling in comparison to the other two.

Nice conditions Califoilia.
I see that you continue paddling when you get up on foil.
Can you turn both ways doing this?
And how long is your paddle?
My paddle is nose high, perhaps I have to get a longer one...

What other foil did you use in these small conditions before you had the HPS1050?

The board is 4í11 x 26.5 x 95 liters with a straight tail. No bevel. This improves the low end of a foil like the HPS series. Any board works, this board just increases the working range.
Have you also tried BSC wings?
I suppose it would also improve the low end of the BSC series?
So that you can get up with a smaller foil and or a smaller wing.

Thanks for the review of the 1050.
I want to get one or more of the new Axis wing for sup foiling in tiny waves and connecting more waves. Until now I use the 1150, 1010 and the 1000 for that.
The 1010 and the 1150 pump better in a straight line but I very much prefer the 1000 it turns so much better...
So now I have to choose between the HPS1050 and HPS980 and BSC970 and BSC890.

I more and more prefer to use smaller foils (less than 1 meter wide and under 1400 cm2) so I thought I would not get the HPS1050 but after reading your report I might have to get it...

Today
Interesting board you have..
Good for the HPS foils that need some more board speed to get them flying?

What are the specs of that board and how much do you weigh?

And I don't  like winging with the 1150 at all , it is fine for the sup for mini waves.
Still looking for a nicer lightwind winging foil, perhaps the HPS 1050 or the BSC 970?
OK, since the bottom line you looking for is "light wind", then yes, forget about the 910 (and 980 or 970), and just get the 1050...that wing is super fun in the small surf (equating that to "light wind"), and does almost everything really well.

Other than me hitting my paddle on it a couple of times because it's so long (the wing, not my paddle), which is an instantaneous "stick in the spokes" kind of thing, I can't think of a single thing I don't like about that wing...turns, glides, pumps incredibly, and lifts off the water on takeoff super easy. Kinda like I wrote about here last week....
Yes one of the things I am looking for is a foil for light wind winging and after reading your post about the 1050 I just have to get it , it will be a great supping foil as well....

I never hit my foil with my paddle, I have a nose high paddle that I don't use once I am up on the foil.

What didnít you like about the v1
Then I can tell you if youíll like the v2.
I only tried it twice with a wing.
It was nervous when going fast, and it was not much faster than my 860...
And it had a mind of its own when carving a jibe , a bit like the 1010 but worse.
And I have used the 1020,920,1000 and 900 for winging and these all carve nice and smooth.

And I don't  like winging with the 1150 at all , it is fine for the sup for mini waves.
Still looking for a nicer lightwind winging foil, perhaps the HPS 1050 or the BSC 970?
