Not in BC. Bellingham, wa. But I check this area a lot. I head to BC regularly and am always looking for places to paddle even want to try my hand at surfing my board.

How will this work since Australia has the GW on their endangered species? I doubt he can actually go out and do this.
What is he going to do about cars then? How many people are killed by cars? Or snakes? Spiders or fucking kangaroos??? I forget that doesn't make the headlines in the same spectacular way....(I guess getting killed by a kangaroo would receive headlines).
Shit like this pisses me off.
I couldn't have said it better myself..... Just more proof that "Stupid is as stupid does"

Holy cow, this thread blew up! Haha
I was only thinking of regional sub forums in the meet-up area....
In every other forum I'm on this works great! I think I must not have been clear in posting it originally, I did post this in the regional area for that reason, but it got moved which I think caused a little confusion....never wanted it to separate or alienate anyone, if you look at the other forum links I posted you can see what I mean.
Everyone can go to any region, regardless where you're location is. If we keep it to the meet-up area it will be super easy to navigate.
Also doing it that way in the other many forums I use it seems like people get together more often because it takes less time to search through the other BS, they are in and out and spending more time meeting than trying to find people to meet on the forum.
Then they come back and post about their meet...haha.
It also makes it easier for lurkers to search, and find people to meet then they have a better chance of joining and becoming a member of the forum.
Thats all I was thinking when I posted this topic.
To sum it up.... Keep regional sub forms for meetup area only, also have a general/national meet sub forum for cross posting topics and leave the rest alone.

People consume safety margin--seat belts don't really save lives. The statistics are pretty clear.
Where do you get your statistics? Statistics can be made to look however anyone wants them too look or sound, so I try to go with what I see myself..... I see this stuff daily in my line of work. Let me just say from my first hand experience I completely disagree with that statement of seatbelts not saving lives. I can see your point of view on the rest though.

I like endlessflights layout, just added a little, only cause I think the pacific coast needed a little more separation and I saw someone say the same about east coast, but not sure how that should be split. I see there are a few Canadians, maybe split it east west too.....
Hawaii Pacific North West Coast US Pacific South West Coast US East Coast US Central US East Canada WestCanada Central/South America Europe Aus Asia
I mean if it's a ton of work for admin then I'm fine with whatever...don't want to overload them.

i think we should do a general sub division for now and if there is demand for a particular region, we can subdivide more.
Why not do it all now instead of having to change again? I think as the forum grows it'll only be better having it done ahead of time.

This sounds like other things where equipment advances. It leads to more safety if people who already know what they're doing use it--adding the safer gear to the skills they already have. But it also leads to lowering the level of skill needed to do the activity, so people with worse skills come in and wreak havoc who wouldn't have before.
Examples: --people sliding out of control in snow in 4-wheel drive SUVs, who have no snow-driving skills but think the technology will save them (1" of snow in Portland means streets littered with wrecked Jeeps, Range Rovers...). Before 4-wheel drive, they would have stayed home or learned to drive --idiot hikers with gps's --dog owners with no ability to control their dogs without leashes --non-designers with home design software --and apparently unskilled surfers who would've stayed away before there were leashes
I think swimming is headed the same way--all the new pfd laws will lead to people forgoing swimming lessons and relying on the technology.

like that idea, couple sub region for the states, then canada and out of state section.
"Canada" as a region doesn't work for meetups. Vancouver to Seattle or Portland works - Van could care less what Toronto is doing (and I suppose vice versa).
Yeah, but you really care what the Newfie's are up to.... Haha I think a PNW region for that area woul work best for our area.

That's a great idea. I'd love to do a down-winder on Lake Michigan, but that requires two cars with ability to haul boards.
A Chicagoland "chapter" would be awesome.
I'm originally from the Chicago land area, i'll shuttle ya when I'm in town visiting family. Haha

Just seeing what other people in here think.
I'm on a few other forums and in the meet up areas the have it split into regions. It makes it a whole lot easier to find topics close to you. Less likely to miss one.
Not sure if this has been brought up before or not.
