Wingsurfing, Windfoiling, Wingfoiling, Wing SUP / Gong Shipping

Hi all-

I am considering getting a Gong wing, foil and board because their package deals are pretty insane and the stuff seems like it will be perfect for a beginner like me. But my one issue is shipping of a rigid board. Gong isn't shipping them to the US and the companies they recommend are not either. I sent them an email, but no response so far.

My question then for everyone is has anyone had success getting a Gong rigid board shipped into the US and how did you pull that off? The boards look pretty decent too!

SUP General / Need a Board in Charleston, SC in 2 weeks

Hi all-

I will be visiting Charleston for the first time in over 10 years visiting college friends (C of C) and want to surf a bit when out there. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to rent a good SUP for surfing? I currently ride an 8-0 SIMSUP3 by L41 surfboards here in Santa Cruz  and do not want to be stuck on a boat. Ideally looking for a 9-0 to 9-6 at the biggest and probably about 130L

Awesome results! I too am a firm believer in the primal way of life. I have been following the diet for almost a year and easily lost 30lbs without even trying. Now I just surf and eat and my weight stays off. Keep on preaching it!

I have the SimSUP 3 and can attest that these boards just flat out work! Covewater in Santa Cruz has them in stock and I believe a demo on the way as well. Ask anyone who has given them a fair shake and the simmons design works extremely well as a SUP.
Kirk at L41 makes a very sweet board and for the price you are going to get THE cutting edge design.

I have ridden mine in head high waves and it just screams down the line, allowing me to make sections I never thought possible, yet then I crank a turn and am amazed at the combination of speed and maneuverability.

Thanks for all the responses. I will definitely look at going lighter, both in foam and an all carbon wrap.

@Talldude- I was planning on drawing inspiration from those SIC boards. I have a buddy with a couple and they rock!

@ Sup Surf Giant- I have done a few DW'ers on race boards (specifically Barks) and they flat out suck. You catch the nose as soon as you hit the trough and over you go as it steers you to the right or left. The Naish glide 14 is nicer- lots of nose rocker. you definitely want a planing hull not a displacement hull.

The Shape Shack / Thinking of shaping a DW Board

So I am thinking of shaping a Downwind board and wanted to get everyones opinion on a few things.

1. Do I go stringerless and wrap the rails in carbon or with a stringer? Will this be stiff enough with 1.5# foam?
2. Glassing schedule of 2 x 6 oz bottom, 2 x 6 oz top plus a deck patch- Strong enough?
3. Thinking of a 16-17 footer by 28 or 29 wide. Thoughts?
4. who has the best rudder system to copy?
