Bill,

Nice 360 MX.

Is it destined for some vintage racing?

I bought a 10' x 28" surf version. Pin tail with big round nose. When i purchased, i was planning to buy a Wavestorm for crap days and surfing around rocks.  Came across ad on Craigslist for a really low price. When up and bought one on way hoem from a meeting in OC.

It's heavy. Has stood up very well to my absolute lack of care and consideration when using. Price was so low was an almost disposable type decision if didn't like it.

This board is a lot of fun when surf is really weak. Since nothing can really be surfed any more than point and shoot in these type of conditions, the board works great. I have enjoyed the board as it has really helped me work on cross-stepping to nose. I surf it as a single fin with an 8 inch fairly rounded fin.

I have also taken it out in shoukder high waves when it's blown out. Board is very stable in chop. It did better than i expected in those conditions. Just need to really stay on tail.

One thing this board does great is glide into waves.

As a third string back up board for slow or crappy conditions, the board works well. Only negative i have had is the weight when carrying up a hill after a session.

Knowing all of the above, would i buy it again? Yes.

Bean,

If you look at section (f)(3), the first section in parenthesis states "other than a committee specified in paragraph (1)". As a result, any request under f(1) is not subject to the provisions of f(3).

Your analysis of statutory law is misguided. What I would like to know is where this interpretation of 6103(f)(1)(3) comes from?

Would you be willing to identify the source? I believe it is crucial that we know if a source is providing misleading information, no matter what side it is on.

I would put SlatchJim's Seusism/poem on my car.

GT,

I have extensive experience with both the same Blair board and the L41 S4.

I have had my Blair for 1.5 years. Same issues you are having in the beginning. Based on my first few sessions, thought I was never going to be able to paddle it in a straight line. Now, the board is second nature to me and I love it. Once you are able to ride it from the back, becomes a completely different board that really performs. I have ridden it in everything from ankle height to well overhead. Worked great in everything. As Joe says, keep the middle fin moved all the way forward until you get into bigger waves, then start moving it back. Plus, you can always call Joe and ask him.

In spring I picked up an 8'2 L41 S4. Struggled with it at first as it is very different from what I was experienced with (longboard style). Even took it out on a well overhead day and found out it was way too much for me in those conditions! Now, I am getting addicted to the board in our usual summer surf. Someone else described it perfectly...feels like you're on a skateboard!

If you are ever in the Tourmaline area, let me know. It's now common to see a few Blair's out!

Dawn patrol session with Martog at Tourmaline this morning. Martog drops in on an overhead peak at Grimace rock. After he paddles back out, a hardcore longboard proner comments "That was a great drop in, probably the best I've seen one of you guys get, but not that I watch you guys that much"

Despite the last part of his statement, I took it as a strong compliment to Martog. Probably the first complimentary thing the guy has ever said to a SUP.

Martog's drop in was even better considering the conditions. Morning started with heavy wind and really lumpy/bumpy. Martog described the conditions best, wave faces seemed like mogul runs!

Strand,

It's true, saw it with my own two eyes. Standing in calf deep water trying to balance through the surge on the cobbles, saw the five toes less than 10 feet in front of me. Even called the guy out when I paddled out.

But then again, we know how accurate percipient witnesses can be!

SL,

Doesn't matter how or why, just really cool to see 5 toes hanging off such a small board!

Damn, that's a nice bag SL. Looks like it has more volume than some of your boards!

Kiku's reply is exactly why I enjoy the SUP crowd. Always friendly, helpful and willing to share. All my prone friends are SO jealous when they hear about our demo days. Happily tell them that all they need to do is step up and grab a paddle.

Looking forward to a great time on saturday!

My board is a Blair 8'10 and i'm 190lbs.

I ask SL which of his boards would be best for me to drop down to. Has me try his 8'2 by 28 I believe. Proceeded to FLAIL about for a solid 30 minutes. My record for staying upright was 30 seconds. When the air temp is 30 something and the wind is 10mph - from the east which means it's coming from our mountains and down the valleys so its even colder - means I was frozen. Thankfully, Old School just watched and kept quiet.

SL paddles out. He sees me struggling and comes to give me some pointers. Something about crouching and finding my balance point before standing. I'm thinking, ok Mr. Miyagi, kinda hard to do when you can't feel your F....n feet or hands. Mercifully, Old School remains quiet.

In a very humane gesture, SL yells over that I should go try Sup-Positions 8'0 Coreban. I bolt for the shore. Sup-P is at the boards. (one of the posted pics is me walking towards him with SL's board) He directs me to his Coreban and tells me to try one of his paddles. My adventure has a happy ending as I was able to stand and catch some waves on the Coreban. The paddle was a carbon Ke Nalu I believe. Wicked light. Going to order one from Sup-P.

Worst part of the day is I had to leave by 8:45 for family obligations. Didn't get to hang out and BS or say goodbye and thanks to everyone. For those who missed out, really try and make the next one. I have found the SUP crowd to be extremely friendly and all focused on just enjoying the sport and  the camaraderie.

Definitely up for a full day next time with the group.

I'll be there for dawn patrol to get an early jump on some of SL's tiny boards.
