Bummer to find this out! Mike, Brownie, Stoney, Nicole, Sue, the entire CCBC Ohana! You guys are all amazing and I stoked to have been part of the it the past few years. Too bad no Boston, that is such a good event and fun time. I can't make the crossing this year, but maybe I'll have to clear the calendar for the 10th! Mahalo you guys!

Spook- bahahaha! you a funny guy.

Kaya- I raced the Boga stock 14. AWESOME! Love it! Not too heavy for a stock board, and the design is fast. It still comes down to the motor in the end, which is why Travis Grant kicked everyone's ass on a 14, including the 4-5 sups that were 18'.

Addapost- are you doing the Supathon in Welfleet in June? I'll be there. Hope we score waves again!

Addapost, sorry I didn't introduce myself as exetersup this weekend. I was on a blue Boga raceboard, with a Patriots hat on. I think you and I were close for most of the race? I was wearing headphones, so couldn't talk/hear much. I just remember shouting "watch out" a few times when the double rowing sculls were on the attack. Did you get knocked off? I was right next to that woman who got her legs swept out from under her, right around the first mile.
Anyways, what a great race! Conditions were sweet. Would be nice to see the backwards folks go out first next time. Any time you want to paddle, hit me up!

Hey New England SUP racers! This Saturday is the Essex River Race, in Essex, MA, just north of Boston. It's one of the nicest courses to paddle on the entire east coast! It's 5.5 miles of tidal river, complete with current changes, wind (likely) and maybe some rain (am showers in the forecast). It should be a pretty good day. If you are interested, check out the link:
http://www.blackburnchallenge.com/ERR_Race_Info.html
Also, if you are in need of a 12'6 or 14' race/tour board, PM me, and I'll have a few at the event if you want to borrow.
Hope to see some Zoners down there this weekend!

LAST CALL for this event today! Come find me before and after the 6 mile race. I'll have a few Bogas and Rogues to try out. Wind will be light out of the E, cloudy, but hopefully no rain. It's only gonna be @ 50deg, so might need some layers. Get psyched!

Ya man,
That sounds good. Let's connect before the day of the event. PM on here, and we can connect. I just booked a room for that night at the Welfleet Hotel. I'm traveling with my wife and kids. Hopefully we'll have good waves again!

Hey, thanks guys!
Badger and Don- we should plan a Great Bay to Ocean paddle this spring/summer. We can even look to leave from downtown Exeter with the outgoing tide on the Swamscott. Let's look at the middle/end of May?

Woke up to sunny, head high surf. Wind was sideshore, so instead of going to the few overcrowded points, I went all the way down the coast to the best south wind spot I could think of. The tide was waaaaay out, there was not another surfer anywhere to be seen, and the surf was clean.
I was in my 4/3, booties, and no gloves or hood. April in New Hampsha is so rejuvenating. That feeling of a good session with no one out in head high surf...
Aaaahhhh, that's nice

I'm in for the SUP Surf contest again this year. As long as there are waves. And maybe I can find a runner to do the supathon. Anyone wanna run in sand for me and make a team?
I had nothing left in the tank in last year's finals. We'll see how it goes this year!

Any Massholes and New Englandahs racing the Charles on April 26? Details here:

http://www.crwa.org/run-of-the-charles

SUPS are allowed on the 19, 9 and 6 mile races. I've done all 3, and the 6 miler is the only one with NO portages.

I'm planning to do the 6 miler again this year. Who's with me?!

Additionally, I am going to have a few race boards for people to try out (Boga Tsunami 12'6 and 14, Coreban Dart 14', and a few others...pm me if you are interested...

Hope to see some of the #CCBC crew on this one!

I'm also a teacher, and really try to motivate my kids to get off their arse, phones, and tablets, and make consistent connections with the outdoors. Daily if possible. And not just during football practice, or cross country, but to go get lost in the backyard, build a cool fort, camp out, make fire from friction, tie a bolan, swim in a mountain lake, identify some constellations, and make up some fun in the wild and free. It's very hard for a lot of kids I teach to let go of their social media and short attention spans to make real connections with the natural world.
That and get a farkin' job at least by the time they turn 25!

Thanks for the kind words and support. I appreciate it!

Pono- I'm 36, and I have heard about certain injections available for the knee (my mom actually had it recently after she tore her meniscus last fall). I'll consider it after a few months of recovery.

Stony- the snow keeps falling man, and it doesn't seem to be stopping. It was 30 degrees today, and it almost felt like spring! I could just imagine seeing green grass and open water on the river again!

Carib- shoveling is great cross training. I moved about a ton off my deck today and head sweat pouring off my head! Can't wait for melting'

Red tx- I hear ya in the ballistic training. It's not safe or sustainable for everyone.  I'm now in week 4 post-op, and have been cleared for swimming. I might start focusing in swim training and continuing my leg exercises. Once the snow and ice melts, it's gonna feel incredible to get back into sup training.

Aloha everyone for sharing in this topic. It's good to hear what some of you have done for rehabbing similar injuries.

Stony- I'm definitely planning to be at the Supathon again. As well as the Charles. My bro law is getting married the same day as the Crossing, so I won't make it this year. But in hoping to train as If I was doing it again. We'll be in touch!

Thanks Guys! Hard to even think about paddling today. Another foot of snow, frigid temps, big nasty storm surf on the only body of water not frozen. I'd like to fall into hibernation for the next 2 months and wake up to 75deg, no snow, green grass and #newhope
