I've encountered similar experiences with generative AI. It brings me back to a previous post where a Visionpro reviewer expressed being "Utterly thunderstruck, and yet mildly underwhelmed." At times, the capabilities of AGI can seem like nothing more than an entertaining parlor trick. AND YET, there are moments when its impact feels truly monumental.  I edited Chatgpts edit of my edit on this one.

Impressive how quickly things unfolded. I'm cautiously optimistic that global CO2 emissions have reached their peak, albeit at the highest level in recorded history. The trajectory of global warming over the next ten years appears uncertain, but there's hope that we might be able to avert the most severe climate scenarios.

After coming across your post, I delved into the topic and discovered that oil still constitutes about 20% of Russia's GDP and 8% of the US GDP. It's hard not to consider this as a significant factor in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the potential implications for Israel.

Also, I used ChatGPT for the first time to edit this post.  It took a few minutes longer, as I had to learn the process, but I liked the edit.

Cool

Teachers are the best of us (the good ones), but the system is in no way equipped to deal with kids growing up quantum.  Kids ages 11 to 14 spend an average of nine hours per day in front of a screen.  It is a near impossible task to provide engaging content and meet curriculum guidelines.  I think we are nearing a point where we must embrace the now....

Foil grabs a lot of attention.  I got stopped 3 times on the way to the water.  One guy asked where I got it, when I told him my husband built it, he asked if he needed another wife.

It’s been almost 3 years since my last wing foil (or any foil) season and rusty would be a compliment.  I don’t know if that makes me an adequate gear tester, but I had a great time trying.  I got up right away on my first reach.  Full of that confidence, I flew into my first turn, until I realized I didn’t remember how to jibe a wing.  I forgot to let go with my back hand and took a massive dunk.  It’s been awhile but my first impressions were:  very stable, easy carves, no pogo action, and not a single breach or drop.   I’m really looking forward to getting a few more sessions so I can get to know the foil better and hopefully remember what I am doing.

Pray for no wind!!!! We are very lucky this didn't happen a few days ago.  Also, very fortunate to have such skilled fire fighters.

I had my first few flights today prone paddling.  3 exhilarating seconds.  I’m still a little stunned when I catch a swell so I’m not making the most of the glides yet.  This was only day 5 which makes me hopeful that I’ll be getting some longer rides later this summer.  Switching to a lighter mast was helpful. I can’t wait to give it a go with the soon to be ready smaller foil wing.

It's a workout.  We paddled upwind for about a mile today and then back with the wind on 4–6-inch bumps. Not really ridable but I did feel a few small surface glides.  The paddle specific muscles and balance development will take a few weeks.  I think it's possible but I need to put in some time.

I love it.  I'm not sure how it would work in the gorge with predominantly opposing wind and current.  $18 makes it worth a try, provided you can retrieve your wing, or have an old scraper available.

Love it!  You're making it look too easy.

Great times!  I wonder if any of our old SIC boards are still around.  I had a 15'6 that would be fun to take out for a spin again.  With our new foil prone paddle boards ready for their first run, it feels like Deja Vu all over again.

Thanks for the inspiration.  I agree flexibility is a must.  I do at least a 15-minute stretch/yoga most days.  I came across this  https://us.zen8swimtrainer.com/products/zen8swimtrainer.  I'm sure I could DIY for less, but I may just hit the easy button and order one.  I like the idea of adding in 15 minutes a day on days when I'm too busy to get in a full workout.  I'm also going to try a few swim gloves out in the pool.

I have to admit, I feel a bit constrained here in Bora-Bora, and I'm not really going to be unhappy to leave early so Diane can get her knees replaced. I've gone so far as to suggest she move up the schedule. This stuff is fairly thrilling.

I just picked up the Winter issue of the gorge magazine featuring an article on Winter SUP which has a classic picture of of you leaning in to check out the weather forecast up on the monitor at Big Winds, taken by the multi-talented Jennifer Gulizia (see pg 41).

They look like they haven't generated much forward speed, but they are creating bounce lift.  It would be interesting to see Garmin or Apple data of the point of speed that various SUP and prone paddle foilers are hitting prior to takeoff.

That's some great motivation right there.   Has anyone calculated the speed at which a foil (with limited variables) will generate the lift needed to fly?  I'm considering what my target swim sprint should be.  With the apple watch swim app I can have a very accurate idea of where I'm at in relation to the goal.
