Hi, I am an intermediate regular footed sup surfer and use the paddling stance whereby my feet are shoulder width apart over the stringer with left foot slightly forward and rear foot slightly back. When paddling for a wave on my right side I’m locked in and golden but when paddling for a wave on my left side, I lack power, etc. because I feel like I am paddling off of my back shoulder, which I basically am. My question is do I avoid that side, learn to live with it or switch my stance a bit with my right foot slightly forward and left foot slightly back (which I can do but seems weird). Anyway, I’m sure you know what I’m dealing with and any advice would be appreciated. SR

OK thanks. I am 6’1”, 185lbs, am on a 161L Naish Mana and live in NJ. I have been doing some research and a local shop is recommending the Werner Ripstick 89 2-Piece. Seems like a solid paddle from the reviews but I wouldn’t know.

Hi, I am an intermediate SUP surfer who is currently using a Surfstow SL50. First off, know any thing about this paddle? And if I were to upgrade, what would be a good paddle for the buck? Thanks!

Hi, I am an intermediate SUP surfer, who is currently surfing the Starboard Whopper 10' 171L Starlite and as I get into bigger and especially pitchier swell, I am concerned about getting slammed onto that board, which almost happened today. I have never surfed an inflatable but am wondering if, all things being equal, they are safer than composite boards when it comes to getting rolled in surf? I was always under the impression that inflatables do not perform as well as composite boards but for my level and with my concerns, are they a good option? It seems like the inflatables are getting better too? I was thinking of maybe dropping down to a 140L composite board for safety in larger swell (but I am happy on the 171L) but I cannot imaging that there is much difference between the 171L and 140L when it comes to safety. I can also imagine another frustrating learning curve as I drop down in volume and weight. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks, SR

Really good advice! Thank you! Never heard of a waist leash before and I am sure there is all sorts of discussion and opinion on this forum vs the two . Thanks all!

Yes! Exactly! Look at my post just after this about safety LOL! I was in OH conditions yesterday and was armored up for battle with a heavy duty leash, helmet and PFD! So aside from liters look for water area and light construction?! Thanks!

Hi, I have a few questions about safety and wonder if anyone could chime in:
1) In your opinion, who makes the strongest leashes and what length leash is best? 2) Do you ever SUP surf with a helmet? 3) Do you ever SUP surf with a PFD?
Thanks, SR

Hi, I am on the 171L Whopper and absolutely love it in everything from 2' overhead on down, which immediately makes me wonder why I am looking for my next board but part of that is me. If I were to go to a next board and I realize that there are a lot of variables to consider, I am looking at the 131L Pocket Rocket, the 143L Wide Point and the 149L Hero. My initial question is, is jumping down 40L to the 131L a big jump in general and if so would I simply be better going with the Hero and skipping the Wide Point altogether and staying within the same line as the Whopper since I love it? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, SR

Hi, I just purchased a C+ 2016 Starboard Drive out of a demo fleet for my first board. Although it doesn't appear to be taking on any water, there are some chips missing around the nose of the board. It doesn't seem like any surfboard material I am familiar with but more of like a marine gel coat. If I wanted to redo the nose of the board cosmetically, what type of repair material should I use? Thanks
