Gear Talk / Shorter New Deal
« on: August 09, 2020, 12:10:04 PM »
Has anyone tried the new shorter lengths of the New Deal from Infinity.  Guess we can say New New deal ;)  I had the 9x28 loved it so wondering how the 8x28 would compare to it as it’s 1foot shorter but 3 letters less volume.  Also curious about the 8’6x29 so this is 6” shorter but 1 in wider an 10L more then the 9x28.  Guess the rails must be a little fuller on both these smaller sizes.

Selling my 9’x28” 104L Carbon Infinity New Deal. This board is a performance longboard SUP no question about it. It’s super fast with its width and very maneuverable with its rounded pin tail with stingers. I put on the high end RS pro tape with Shark design. It’s barely been ridden as I ride my smaller SUPs.  Small paddle ding repair on the nose glassed over at board shop just to be safe.   It retails for $2200 (with out $100) so it’s a great deal at $1400.  I’m in Florida on the space coast so you will have to come and get it.

Videos to get you stoked on this awesome ride:

Gear Talk / Re: Any feedback on the Blurr V2
« on: April 08, 2019, 09:44:12 AM »
Thanks MrBig.  It was your advice that got me onto the New Deal to start with :) I still need to get my 8" center to go single fin on that board.  I do like how the New deal flows off the top effortlessly in a hard carve.

Thanks supnorte.  I have a Bonzer shaped SUP today so don't want to go with the BLine just yet as I love it and its my growler for now.  I also love that New Deal tail so that being said is it the 7'11 @ 90L or do I go to the 8'2 @ 109L?
Im thinking from your response that if you would have gone to the 90L instead of the 80L V2 it would have been closer to the Starboard 7'7"

Thanks again

Gear Talk / Any feedback on the Blurr V2
« on: April 07, 2019, 05:18:10 PM »
Hi,
Looking to see if anyone got their hands on one of the new production Infinity Blurr V2  boards?  I’m on the edge and want to hear how others like it before putting in an order.  I love the pin tail on my 9x28 New Deal and hope it’s just as good on the V2.  I usually ride 100L boards and it puts me dead smack between the 7’11” and the 8’2”.  I owned a 2016 Starboard pro 7’7”x27”@95L so though the 7’11 comes in at 90L I think the step rail and flat deck will give me that extra stability to make it work.  Was also reading that it’s better to be under volume with the step rails to gain stability.  So does anyone have some feedback on this board you can post.

Thanks

Gear Talk / RSpro Cork on a SUP
« on: April 01, 2019, 03:58:31 PM »
OK I can't be the first one wondering how the new RSPRO cork front foot traction would work for the standing area on an SUP.  Granted you would probably have to combine 3 boxes to cover the extra width and length of the standing area.  I know it would still be hard on the feet.  Now Im using Wax and love the connection with the board but as soon as it gets warmer and its starting to here in FL the wax starts to pool up under your heals and leaves bare spots.  I take the wax out and reapply in the line up when its all gone its hard to get the bumps back.  So has anyone tried it yet?  Im sure if its a hit they would make it in wider sizes for us on the larger watercraft.

Thanks

East Coast SUP Surfing Circuit (ESSC) always has one leg at Jensen each year so must be good.  Take a look at pics from the last few years.

Gear Talk / New Board narrowed to Starboard Pro OR JL Super Tech
« on: September 04, 2017, 12:47:54 PM »
Hi,
I'm now looking for a new board and have it Narrowed down to an 8'x28 Carbon Starboard Pro (2017) or the Jimmy Lewis 8'3x28.5" Carbon SuperTech.  I'm about 175 LBs and advanced paddler.  I have a 2016 7'7" Starboard I use when it's super clean and also have a few custom Cannibal SUPs around the 90-100L mark.  I want to use this next one in OH conditions and chop and slop fun.  I like the pulled in tail and nose on the Starboard Pro but I also like that the Jimmy Lewis Super Tech is thinner overall.  Has anyone ridden both these boards that can give me their feedback.  Please don't throw in any new options as i like both boards and want to make the purchase soon. Thanks....

Gear Talk / Re: Boards and other stuff from surf expo

I was talking with Jimmys son on that B&B as well.   Loved the rails and how thin that board was.  Would have bought it but I ended up picking up the 8.2 Rawson Promo at the expo.  Got to spend a lot of time talking with Pat too.   mrBig Pat definitely knows you well and says hi.

Gear Talk / Re: FS Rawson ProMo
« on: September 06, 2016, 12:46:57 PM »
I know it's an old topic but I tried the 7'8" Promo at 27.5" width and it was a little too much for me in chop.  I then went to the 8'4" Raw-1 and that thing was awesome but it was a little too stable for me as I like to keep progressing.   I just sold my 8'4" Raw-1 so now the big question.

Do I go to the 8'2" Rawson Promo 8.2x28 7/8 x 4 @106L
Or
Do I go to the 7'10" Raw-1 7'10" x 28.5 x 3 7/8 @ 97L

I'm thinking that the wing tail on the promo may actually have less stability then the smaller Raw-1. I just don't know if the wing tail wipe the board around better then just the smaller board (9L less volume).

In any case really happy with these Rawsons and don't think I could go wrong either way.  I'm 47 weighing in at 167# and 6' tall

I don't think I'll find many out there that rode promo and raw-1 so general guidance would be great.

I surf SUP all Central FL mostly from JettyPark down to Seabastian.  Sure there are places like NSB, PlayLinda on North Side of the cape and Monster Hole in Seabastian that are known to get frequented by these guys but the rest is not that bad.  Sure there will be a test bite here and there but nothing to keep one off the water.  Looks like we will finally get a 2'er+ at the end of the week to break the Summer lulls LOL.  So waiting to get closer to the Fall as I don't have any trips planned this year :(
