Gear Talk / Re: Help - RRD LongSup

Thanks for the information, I do hope that they have changed the build quality for the good it's been a while since 2012 :)

My Naish Nalu is from 2010 and it's concrete solid hence its heavy weight...

I've buckled a Starboard WP 8'2 and found stapler pins that the manufacturer used to hold the fiberglass in place..

Our local Sunova dealer did told me regarding delamination issues with some boards and regarding the lack of customer service from their hand... So I guess it all comes to the customer service from the manufacturer side...

Our local Starboard dealer has the best customer service and they will go above and beyond to keep you happy but for the price of a Starboard I can get 2 RRD's...

Our local RRD dealer seems to be honest man and I hope that in any case of an issue he will stand behind his words...

I really hope that it will be as solid as I read on reviews (the few of them I've found) and really hope that I've made the right choice...

BTW where are RRD manufacturing? Cobra?

Thanks but you haven't confused me , the alert regarding manufacturing issues like leaking handles or delamination is very important to know.

I once had a Naish which consider to be a very strong builds but my SUP got dings each time I've surfed.. so I guess every brand has it ups and downs... Just hope the the current production is better the the one that you handle with...

Can you say which years was it?

Thanks so much !! Our local dealer said just the opposite LOL ... He said that they do take care in case of any issues... And to be fair we haven't talked at all regarding other brands... He's only import RRD.

I'm reading your post but I've already ordered the RRD... So I guess that I will hope for the best...

Your feedback is much appreciated

Thanks, I've also posted there and in addition email supboarder...

I really like this board based on reviews but unfortunately I will not be able to test it before ordering since there are no demo boards in my country...

Thanks!

Gear Talk / Help - RRD LongSup
« on: September 23, 2019, 01:21:09 AM »
Hi Guys,

I'm thinking about the RRD Longsup V1 9'4" .
I'm currently surfing a unicorn board (for me) 9'0" x 27" x 4", 120L SINGLE FIN from 2010... and I love it so much, I found it second hand on a bargain...

I would like to know especially regarding the durability of RRD an if possible I hope to find someone how surf it to share his opinion.

In addition the 2nd board which I'm also reflecting on is the Fanatic Stylemaster 9'0 or 10'.
The 10' is the last on my list because of storage issues (too big) but a friend told me that the 10 is much much better then the 9... so I'm confused.

Hope to hear your thoughts...

Thanks,

ProBox-Larry - I don't find your fin for sale, can you please share a link?

dietlin - your fin suggestion looks very classic and I guess that this one or the Baddog suggestion will work well...

I'm wondering what are you guys thinks about the TrueAmes Squirrel Cutaway Fin in size 8"?
I have read the review in the LongboardHouse.com web site and it is set my mind on fire...

http://www.longboardhouse.com/Longboard-House--Squirrel-Cutaway-Fin-8-9_p_604.html

Have any one tried this type of fin? will it work as single fin or just as 2+1?

thanks!

Gear Talk / Naish Nalu 9'0" - recommended center fin size
« on: June 20, 2016, 02:50:34 AM »
Hello :)

I have lost my Nalu fin, and I need to get a new one... I don't remember the size of the fin, but since I need to get a new one, I'm wondering if I should stick with the default dolphin style fin or should I try something else...?

I guess I will rid my Nalu single fin, I have surfed it once and since that time I'm working on fixing it (http://www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php/topic,29403.15.html).

I'm looking for a fin that will give me stability and easy turning and for the right size, some recommended me to go with 9" dolphin and others recommended on much smaller fin around 7".

what are you thinking about this fin: https://futuresfins.com/en-us/admiral-8-5-volan-8021-243-12-detail

please help me choose the right fin before the end of this week, swell is coming this Friday and I want to use my Nalu :)

Thanks! :)
Moshe

Gear Talk / Re: Questions regarding restoring 2010 Naish Nalu 9'0

Hi,

I managed to find a small piece of divinycell, so next step is to open a new handle hole (since the original handle is not centered but on the left side) , glue with epoxy the divinycell to the new handle and mount with epoxy.

Am I correct regarding the steps?

Thanks,
Moshe.

Guys,

I've watched this video:

and I don't see him using any divinycell when I mount the handle into place.

so why the need for divinycell? why can't I just make a hole for the handle and mount it with epoxy and Aerosil?

plus if you can point me out on how should I seal the handle that I got before I mount it into the board.

thanks!

Thanks, well it will be a pain to search for those products in my country... The foam that I used is the same foam my local shaper is using for surfboard blanks and I used a+b polyurethane to glue it all up and to fill the holes which caused by the epoxy resin.

I think that maybe I will leave it like that (close it all up with fiberglass 3 or 4 layers) and I I will mount the handle elsewhere and that area...

What do you think?

Hi,

So I have finally found 'ledge' style handle that I will mount but the problem is that the handle is not sealed and it leaks... So first I need to seal the handle... Should I use just epoxy or epoxy with fiberglass or something else?

Picture:

Please let me know ;) thanks :)
