SUP General / Re: Hernia Repair Advice
« on: December 24, 2019, 01:31:05 PM »
I do this every day.  I would recommend a robotic repair or laparoscopic repair.  Much faster recovery.  Lower incidence of chronic nerve pain.  I see you are in the northeast. Check out Yusuf Kudsi in Boston.

Cascadesup, how did you get it?  I preodered a couple on the first day but haven't heard anything yet.

FYI, the regular promaster LOW roof is 5’6” inside height. That is the same inside height as a tall basic Sprinter. It’s the best kept secret on the road.

It is the FWD allowing all that hidden walking around head room.  It gets 19-20 mpg too.

Basic Tall Sprinter is actually 6' 4".  Low roof is 5'5".

I have had the same concerns.  I don't get wear on the shaft so much as wear on the handle.  My handle is delamming a little.

SUP N, I SUP, SUP R, S U P, SSSUP

What state has only 5 letters?

We have the option for a heart, so I * SUP, would be available here.

My vote is PDLME by SlatchJim.

I ordered the Polar Pros version but it is not clear when they are shipping.  Maybe I will try the DJI.

My brother dropped his into the ocean by Maunalua Bay Beach park.   DJI Refresh and scuba gear to the rescue.

Laird lost all credibility with me when his advice included breathing in one nostril and out the other as a training technique.

I have been considering a Ford Transit with Quigley 4x4.  Cheaper than the Sprinter and easier to get serviced.  Still like my Sprinter so no hurry yet.

I always put a 3rd strap on for these occasions.  I double up the front.

The water temp will get you too.  I didn't like being in the water for 5 seconds.

I'm building a smoker like the ones used at the great barbeque joint in Austin. I forget the name of the place but they make the best brisket I've ever had. Anyway, I bought the book written by the guy to started it to learn how to build their smoker and I'm collecting a few condemned LP gas tanks to build my monster. Only problem is that you really need to do at least a couple briskets and maybe a pork shoulder and a turkey or two to make it worth firing one up, so I'm thinking beyond just playing around it's more of a party thing.

Other than that I've got a nice BBQ in the back yard in Hood River. Bought about five in Maui but they rot so fast I can't keep up with them. Even the cheap stainless most companies use won't stand up to Maui.

I do steaks and chicken on big blocks of Himalayan pink salt. Makes for a wicked steak once you learn to get the outside browned to get the maillard reaction going and then put it on the hot salt block.

You can watch him make a smoker on PBS.  Still haven't tried Franklin's.  No time to wait in line.  I want to make a whole pig roaster.  Open pit.  Lechon is what I want.

I posed nearly the same question last summer re Maui to Molokai.  Ended up not doing it but did get to do the Maliko run with Jeremy Riggs.  Immense help in getting over the learning curve.  The timing is not obvious (at least to me) and comes much easier with him yelling at you when to dig in.  I asked him if I could've made it and he said I would have.  Ironically, that  was the no wind flat Molokai to Oahu and I am pretty sure I would've finished that one as it was like a lake out there.

I would plan on getting some instruction with one of the guys out there and it will pay huge dividends.

Here was the response when I posed it:
