SUP General / little off the top« on: September 01, 2017, 08:16:14 PM »
Does someone know if it is feasible to cut the deck of a board around the thickest part (center mass), then trim about 1/2 inch off, and re-glass the deck with two layers of cloth to make the board thinner? I have an old 9'2" PSH hull ripper that has too much volume for me. I like the length but feel that I'm not able to burry the rails enough to power through my turns with it. I have the 8'9" hull ripper and use it on small to medium waves but have a difficult time catching waves early enough in large waves or when conditions aren't that great. I wouldn't mind getting a custom board from Blane but his backlog is too much for me. Plus I think hand glassed boards aren't as tough as the factory ones. What you guys think?

SUP General / FCS or Futures« on: September 05, 2014, 07:59:41 PM »
What style fin base or design do you prefer? I have both Future and FCS boxes in different boards. At one time I thought that Futures were better being stronger at the base giving a stiffer response. However after busting out the 2 boxes on the right side of my board, my next board was ordered with 5 FCS inserts instead, because the fin tabs break before damage occurs to the board. As far as design or shape of the fins, both have very similar reactions and I don't see much difference between the two.

Does anyone think that lighter guys have an advantage in paddling faster than heavier guys?

Gear Talk / Surf fin set-up« on: August 04, 2012, 06:57:00 PM »
What is your best fin set-up: quad, thruster, 2+1, or twin fin for moderate sized juicy surf? Do you prefer to shred or cruise? FCS or Futures? What kind of center fin if any?

Gear Talk / Plug center fin box when using quads« on: February 13, 2011, 08:07:25 PM »
Has anyone come up with a plug for the center fin box when it's not being used? I've wondered if it makes a difference riding a quad setup with the center box open. I use a twin fin set up with 5" fins on my older board that has a thruster setup and quads on my newer board with a 5 fin setup. Any thoughts or suggestions?
