So, I've seen lots about them, think they are awesome and would love to think about getting one, specifically for use with GoPro and capturing all sorts of footage.. So, where do I start looking at what type to get, how much to spend, etc, etc, . Can anyone offer suggestions on the best type to start with and what is needed to get up and running... Obviously, price is a major consideration as this will be a tough one to sell to the wife... Thanks

I know there are some posts here and there regarding board bags.... let start something thats all in one place. I'll be buying another custom bag for a trip this winter. What bags do you love, which ones don't you love?

If anyone wants to join us for a Lake Mahopac Paddle in Mahopac, NY, feel free to PM me... we go out a few times a week usually do a lap around the lake (appx 5 miles) unless we get lazy and then we just do a quick paddle and bring beers out to the island...

Can someone recommend someone in the NY, NJ, CT, MA, RI area to do some fairly involved repairs (i guess) to the handle area of my Naish? I want a good job done for sure..... thanks

I have a Naish Mana 10 (bamboo), which I like, but it started having some issues w/ the area around the handle and the handle itself....it is releasing air through micro-fine pinholes and cracks that have developed. There also seems to be some cracks inside the handle itself where air is escaping when the board gets hot. I seems obvious to me that if there is air escaping, then some water has also gotten in when the board is in the water. It seems to feel a little heavier, but that may just be me being paranoid....it weighs in at around 30-31lbs which I think is about what it always has been...
Has anyone else had similar issues? Any ideas on the best way to fix something like this? Seems to me that the whole handle has to be replaced and repair the whole area....is it worth it? Would a Goretex vent be a good way to prevent this type of issue in the future?
Thanks!!

Has anyone else done this diet?
I'm about 2 weeks in and I really like it so far and the results have been great, actually....Trying to slim down a bit and this seemed like something I could live with...
Tim Ferriss' approach to life seems to always do everything "all the way", whats cool is that he documents and tests everything and then presents what works.. I don't know either of them personally, but I imagine that he and Pono are similar creatures....

So here's what I'm thinking for traveling to Costa Rica this year for the first time w/ my KeNalu... Since paddles don't match the rocker of the board very closely... in a board bag, it is exposed somewhat to taking a beating during the course of the trip. I usually spend most of my packing time trying to protect the paddle...I am excited to take advantage of KeNalu's modular construction...I'm planning to disassemble everything. The blade and handle can obviously be nestled anywhere and be fully protected. With the shaft, I was thinking of getting a PVC pipe just about the same length and storing the shaft in there, maybe quickly taping up the ends to keep it inside. Hopefully this will not only allow the shaft to fit more snug to the board inside the bag (cause it's now much shorter than the full paddle), but it will provide really good impact resistance for the shaft... What do you guys think?

So, after all the cool things that have happened, and will continue to happen.... We've made new friendships, travelled w/ them, surfed w/ them, paddled w/ them, sold stuff to them, bought stuff from them, PM'd them, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc....
Who would you like to nominate as the "Zoner of the Year"?
Not only for 2012....hopefully this is a thread that will continue to be updated based on the good experiences we all have w/ each other...and continue into the future. Who has gone above and beyond to "share the stoke"?
Obviously, nobody will ever really "win", but who has embodied the "spirit" of the Zone for you?
I'll start w/ a few that I would nominate based on my very limited field of vision...:
1 - StoneAxe - CCBC, and all the work he has put into a great cause 2 - SUPtheCreek - he is stoked about SUP, plain and simple, love the pics...and this was his first year!! 3- DJ - always giving us the latest and greatest in reviews and sick DW vids, truly bringing a worldwide perspective to the Zone 4- PonoBill - gave us a GREAT paddle and always seems to be ready to share the stoke...not only about SUP, but about life in general
How bout you guys ??

So, with all the influence that he has on SUP and the surf world in general, who here has actually surfed with him, trained with him, ran into him or knows him? He seems to like to keep a low profile, but yet he is such a high profile figure in our sport....pretty interesting balance he maintains...Who is the man behind all the mystery?
