Hey! Hope this is the right place for this sort of thing.

I am selling a used set of a GoFoil Kai/Iwa double wing set with bags and mast cover.  Nice condition with minimal wear.

Also, in a package deal, I have 1- 7'6" Infinity Tombstone SUP Foilboard Carbon and 1-5'11" prone foilboard.  I have used the boards hardly at all and pretty much new.

I think the package is worth at least $2100 but lets make a deal (so make an offer!).  Get ahold of me at my email vincentshaymedia@gmail.com

I live in Central California and willing to drive to deliver if you aren't that far from me (within 200 miles or so).  I can also meet you somewhere halfway too.

Thanks!

Foil SUP / Progression
« on: June 26, 2019, 08:02:42 PM »
Howdy all!

So, I went from my home made, DIY foil and got a GoFoil Iwa and Kai Rear and stabilizer setup.  I coupled that with a 7'6" Infinity Tombstone and a 5'11" Infinity Prone foil in the last few days.  That first session on my homemade foil got me that fired up!

The first session I went right to the surf with the 5'11" Prone foil and the GoFoil IWA setup with large stabilizer.  In Cayucos, we don't really have long waves mushing out to long whitewater, so I decided since I was a surfer to just get right to it so I paddled in. 2'-3' foot south swell at low tide. NOT optimum...but I did it.  Took some fun wipeouts.

Later that same day, I managed to get the Infinity SUP foil outfitted so my wife, Em, and I went down to 24th St in Cayucos and I took off.  I have been paddling for some time and it was not difficult paddling the board to the waves and actually paddling in...the foil another story! I managed to go down the line though and got some flight time.  Nothing nuts, but I got the feel.

Today, I had the opportunity to introduce a friend of mine to the sport of foiling and he has a boat...He wanted to try! I said what the heck, it will give me more time to dial in the foil technique, plus I really wanted to try the smaller Kai stabilizer with the Iwa Wing.  It made SUCH A DIFFERENCE.  I won't go back to the big stabilizer unless I am down winding...which is my SOLE GOAL OF THE FOIL THING.

Enjoy the vid.

Any tips are cool. So tip away. My only 4th time on any sort of foil so I think I am progressing pretty quick. Boat helped so much today.

Foil SUP / DIY SUP Foil Wings- Oh geez.
« on: June 19, 2019, 09:10:17 AM »
Hi there! Since my wife and I own a kayak and paddleboard shop on the central coast of California (Avila Beach Paddlesports) and we had about 6 months off due to all the rain we got this season, I had alot of time on my hands.

This Foil Thing has captured my interest after going to San O' last year to surf with my wife and we happened to park next to Jeff Clarke.  He was cool enough to show me his foils and talk about it. Then I surfed with him, me on my board and him on his foil.  REALLY cool!  For the next few days Em and I watched these amazing athletes foiling and making the often less than stellar, mushy surf, look fun.

Some of my friends on the Central Coast was doing it, mainly surfing, but I really am into downwind SUP paddling, so I wanted a downwind foil.  I had never done it, nor knew anything about it but I was game to try. This season was tough on the wallet so I couldn't afford a new foil and board (jeez, like $2000 + WOW) BUT I figured I could make one.  Even if it didn't work out, I thought maybe I would learn some stuff. And what the heck, I had designed some kayaks in my time (design for Murky Water Kayaks in Canada) in the surf kayak world way back.

How hard could it be! HA, I was in for a lesson.

It was a LONG process of learning and searching on the internet for what others were doing and the ideas behind hydrofoils and how others were making their own. I wanted to make it easy as possible so I learned Fusion 360 and made some large wing shapes, thanks to a few people on the internet who helped me. I had my .stl file and off to get some EPS foam cut! NO way not as easy as it seems...or as cheap!

Back to the drawing board!

So, either people were engineers and experienced carbon fiber/infusion/mold making guys with vacuum bags, etc, which I was NOT or you were someone who tried to carve something out of wood...or maybe skills somewhere in between.  I wanted more!

Yesterday, 5 months after I started this project I was able to put my wings on an old CorranSUP a friend had put foil boxes in (they ended up coming out after 10 runs!) and was towed behind a small inflatable to see if this would even FLY. It did!

Really I had no idea what I was doing. Most of us don't, I think! But I think at least going for it is a great learning experience.  Enjoy the vid! Its entertaining a bit and will give you a general idea of what I did to make mine. Its about 6 months condensed into 10 minutes of fun and frolic.

Now, I am going to go out and buy a good GoFoil Maliko 200! Hahahahaha.
