Travel, Trips, Destinations / Puerto Vallarta in march

What's up guys would appreciate some advice  --I'm an NY City fireman going to Puerto Vallarta in march for my 10th anniversary, hoping to sup/surf ----- started surfing in 1985 and have been suping for 2 years
would prefer to surf on sup than prone surf but will take ether WINTER SUCKS HERE, my problem is we are staying near airport and am not planning on renting a car ----- how would I get to surf break? I see there is a Marina next to where were staying, are there boats to take u to a break or do I need to rent car and how far is the break anyway to paddle to a break? does surf ever filter into the bay? (did the 26 mile sea paddle) lol
