SUP General / First time race director...wish me luck

In an era of declining races and numbers of participants, i had the bright idea of creating a new event...what am I thinking? 

I don't even really like to race, but my 13 year old daughter loves it and I do love spending time with her.  Even though I don't enjoy the actual race part, i do love going to events and hanging with my friends...my paddling family.  The goals are simple...have something that the elite racers will enjoy, but cater to the masses. My wife would also add...don't lose money!  The idea came from a blog post I wrote a long time ago on what my ideal race would be...I decided to just do it.  so wish me luck!

SUP General / Quick intro from a new guy

Aloha everyone.  I live on the west coast...of Michigan (Grand Haven area) and wanted to quickly introduce myself.  I've been reading the zone for a number of months and have learned a ton...i feel like I almost know many of you already.  I'm looking forward to learning much more and contributing on occasion as well. 

One thing for sure is that I'm jealous of the warm water where many of you paddle...I took a plunge into Lake Michigan yesterday with no wetsuit (53 degrees).  At least I had the stoke to keep me warm.
