Gear Talk / F one Strike V3 opinions? Anyone tested one?
« on: May 13, 2023, 04:13:02 PM »
I own a 7m CWC and love it. Thinking about getting a 4 and a 5m Strike. My concern is the new frame will be stiff and unforgiving. Maybe buy last years model? I currently have a hodgepodge of Airush and Doutone older wings. I'm beginner/intermediate (on foil, no consistent jibes), 72kg, Armstrong foils, Naish Carbon Hover 110L.

Windfoiling, Windsurf Foiling / Cordless Electric Pump
« on: November 04, 2022, 12:52:59 PM »
I was watching a winging video and noticed the use of a Ryobi or maybe Ridgid cordless air pump being used to inflate a wing. It seemed small, like the size of a drill. Anyone use one of these?

My largest wing is a 5m Airush that was a gift and has been a forgiving great all around wing. I've had a couple of sessions where a bigger wing would have helped a great deal. I like the the Strike CWC. My friend (140 lbs) has one and loves it; with use down to 9 mph wind. Less known to me is the Duotone Slick SLS, but I like the design with boom, and seems well made. The light weight of these two wings are attractive. The D Lab is a bit out of my price range. I'm 160 to 165 lbs, still in early stages of the foil learning curve. Are there other wings that I should consider in this class? Is a 6m enough for my weight for 10 mph wind?

Travel, Trips, Destinations / South Texas Road Trip

Hey y'all,

I'm headed to Corpus Christi on the second week of May. I have one friend that has been down that way and recommended Bird Island as a good destination for a camper van and easy access to wing foiling. I appreciate any further recommendations about winging, food, and places I should check out in general. I love dropping in on surf shops to get the flavor of a place. Hopefully the wind will cooperate this time of year. I also prone surf so appreciate advice on locations for that too.

Thanks!

Gear Talk / Really big SUP boards
« on: August 26, 2014, 10:08:14 PM »
I teach introduction level SUP lessons and have found that even my biggest boards (Starby Atlas Extra) are still not enough for some clients. Many of these folks are very out of shape and very big. It is difficult for them to support their weight without locking their knees that further comprises their balance. Does anyone know of a round nosed production epoxy board that is over 260L? I know there are some big people on 220L or less but these customers of mine are not athletic and have little experience with any balance sport. This situation has become surprisingly common. Thanks!
