Training, Diet, and Fitness / OC6 shoulder ache

Two months ago I  started paddling 6 man twice a week and man do my shoulders ache, never felt like this from SUP surfing or even long DW SUP paddling.
Kind of a low grade ache that doesn't go away, like I'm sore from weightlifting but I don't recover.
Am I doing myself any long term harm or do you think I just need to keep at it?
Form is good, paddle length correct.

Downwind and Racing / New board question

I surf an 11' SUP and want to get a distance type board to cruise along the coast.
The question is should I get an 18' board with steering or do I start with something smaller?
It's really not very windy here and imagine going out when it's pretty calm and there are no waves for surfing.
I imagine paddling out of Hanalei bay, heading upwind towards the lighthouse, turning around and coming back downwind.
Typically it's calm in the morning with the slightest appearance of the beginning of whitecaps in the afternoon.
I am doing it for exercise, maybe rigging it for fishing and perhaps a local race someday.
I'm thinking of getting the longest displacement type board, am I missing something?

The Shape Shack / Who is making custom XPS or XTR SUP's?

I want a new board like a South County 9er, 9' X 34" X 5" but South County is EPS like everyone else.
 ???After dealing with waterlogged boards I am convinced this is the way to go.
I know, delaminating and vent plugs but after some research it seems like people have learned to deal with this.

I am going to venture that this is either an older board or a custom board as it is not currently available new.
Do you think it would work for a 6'5" 220# man on Kauai?
The price seems really fair.

SUP General / Fell on sea urchin, any advise ?

Yesterday afternoon I fell off my board here on Kauai and landed on a sea urchin, I was stabbed about 20 times in a small area on my rear end and twice on one foot.
I followed all the advice I could find on the internet, I soaked it with hot towels soaked in vinegar and then a heating pad.
Today most of the black dye is gone except for a few spots.
It doesn't really hurt much and has left raised red bumps but I'm wondering what everyone else does for this and if it becomes necessary to remove any spines left or just allow them to dissolve over time.

Gear Talk / Surfing jacket

Technically that's what it's called, it's a very thin neoprene wetsuit top w/o a zipper, long sleeve for warm water, kind of like a rash guard but a little warmer.
I want to buy one for cooler days here on Kauai, the wind and cooler air temps have made it a tad bit chilly at times.
Does anyone have an opinion of what the best value is regarding comfort, durability and price?
