Foil SUP / Does anyone foil in the Outer Banks?
« on: September 26, 2018, 03:29:34 PM »
The wife and I are here in nags head for a couple days. Waves have been pretty consistent.  Grinding barrels on the inside and fat bombs on the outside. I see shortboards on the inside and thatís all. Looks like a great day to foil from the outside. Could get a loooog ride and pull out before the inside crunch. Just wondering if these waves are the norm. If so I will bring a foil on my next visit for sure. Aloha

I don't know if this has been up already.    I always thought waikiki would be a place where this would thrive.

Random / Cane Fire!
« on: June 19, 2016, 07:01:19 PM »
I came home from work the other day and found two fire trucks parked in front of my house. There were 3 helicopters with buckets dumping water on this blaze until dark. There were several tankers in the field spraying water. Some came up behind our house to refill via the hydrant in front. Big mahalos to MFD for knocking this suspicious fire down. Lucky for us the trades were blowing instead of kona's or we could have been toast. On the brighter side, it made for a beautiful sunset. 😉
Here is the link to a video I shot of it. Hope it works...

Downwind and Racing / Haleiwa Joes Race
« on: September 06, 2013, 11:11:50 PM »
Went to Oahu last week with to paddle with a couple of friends. Paddled the hawaii kai run on sat. Enjoyed looking at the coastal scenery along the way back to waikiki. Sunday was race day. It started at waimea bay and ended in haleiwa. Two of us were on rental boards and Kathy was on her foote. The start of the race was in the wind was nil, but after leaving the bay it was side-off the rest of the way. Lots of paddling on the right side. Good thing I have had some practice paddling on the right in kahului harbor.  ;) Kathy came in 1st in her division! Good food and fun for all. Looking forward to going again next yr. and bringing my own board. Mahalo to jeff chang for the rentals and for the the shuttle service.

Downwind and Racing / Channel crossing anyone?
« on: December 28, 2012, 11:42:38 PM »   I ran across this the other day and wondered how it would handle one of our channel crossings.

Travel, Trips, Destinations / Any Bisect Boards out there?
« on: January 22, 2012, 05:27:55 PM »
I wouldn't be surprised if there are. Seems like there may be a need for those who travel. Not interested in an inflatable. Forgive me if this has already been discussed.

General Discussion / Seen one of these in your lineup?

Just wondering what you would do if a celeb paddled into the lineup. Would you cut him/her any slack? Ask them to autograph your board?

What a fun day I had  at the )Olukai sat. I watched as a bystander 2yrs ago. Sat. I gave it a shot. Hats off to the  event staff and sponsors for putting on the weekend long event! For the $60 entry fee you got a  race jersey, a luau, and a pair of Olukai slippahs. Not bad at all. I will definitely do it again next year lord willing.

Has anyone tried one yet? I'm interested in filling the need for a noserider in my sup quiver. I have the shortboard side covered with my PSH ripper. I'm not just looking for a board to do cheeter fives. I want one that lets you perch on the nose. Just curious if anyone has tried one or if I need to go custom.
