SUP General / Big wave SUP's and impact vest/pfd's

Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience/suggestions about big wave SUPing. Does anyone have any thoughts/experience about using impact vests or PFD's in big surf. Also any thoughts on production big wave SUP's on the market? I'm planning a trip to Peru and hoping to have the opportunity to ride some big surf. I've been there before surfing but never SUPing and it is a great place to surf big relatively uncrowded surf. I'm in Hawaii now and thinking about trying to get a board here also my friend has a 9'8  C-4 Raimana for sale and I'm wondering if anyone out there has experience with that particular board as well as the 10'6" gun ripper from PSH.

Gear Talk / Does anyone have any feedback about starboards startouch traction

I'm looking into getting one of the small starboards...either the 6'6" impossible or 7'4" pod  and there are 3 options. Two have pads and one with their startouch traction. Has anyone tried their boards without the deck pads and just the "startouch traction". Also any feedback about the pads? Thanks!

Gear Talk / Question for Blane Chambers(PSH)

I was wondering if you were planning on coming out with any smaller molded ripper models. I used the 9'3" this winter in Costa Rica In some good hollow reefbreak barrels in the 4-6 ft range. The board worked great and I got some insane SUP barrels. I felt like for that size surf I could have gone a little smaller with my board maybe a bit shorter/narrower/thinner something a little smaller not tons like in the 8'6-9' range. Anything in the pipeline? I also used the 10'6 on a few outer reefs surfs and my friend Ivan brought his down to Peru and charged Pico Alto on it. Thanks for making great boards!

  I was wondering what fin set up you used in the Makaha contest or outer reef sessions. I recently got a molded 10'6" for outer reef sessions this winter in Costa Rica.
