Gear Talk / Electric Bike with SUP trailer

I'm seeing a few fat tire electric bikes cruising the beaches here in Southern NJ. With the Army Corps of Engineers having just completed a beach widening and dune project here, the hike to the waters edge with a SUP hasn't gotten any easier for this mid-60's paddler. Wondering if anyone has an electric bike set up with SUP trailer? If so, what does your rig look like. Which bike and trailer? Photos would be great! Thanks!

Gear Talk / F-One...need advice

I have the F-One 14 Race and love it! Need to get a new wave board and was looking at the F-One Wave line. Really nice lineup of pure wave boards (Anakao) and fun boards/egg shapes (Manawa). I'm torn between the 9'5"x30.5" 145 liter Anakao and the 9'0"x30.5 135 liter Manawa. Has anyone ridden one or both of these? I'm 6'3" 210 lbs. Board will be used for East Coast on the faster/cleaner/hollower days as I have a 10'6" Laird Pearson Arrow for the smaller/mushier days. Any thoughts on which board to go with would be greatly appreciated. Link below to see the boards.

Sessions / More from Jersey....Dolphin show!

Did a sunrise ocean paddle on both Wednesday and Thursday morning. Not a cloud in the sky, low 70's water and air temp, not one boat to be seen, no other paddlers except my friend and me but no shortage of dolphins who wanted to come along for the ride. Sorry for the occasional water droplet on the lens. I'm a GoPro newbie. Here's 2 short and amazing clips from both mornings. Hope you enjoy watching.

Sessions / East Coast...Thank you Leslie

Leslie made her presence known late on Monday and for the last few days, the wind just wouldn't co-operate (sloppy southerly). This morning, the day began with a light rain, a light offshore wind and 5-7' perfection at Ventnor Pier, NJ. Was out at first light. Crowd was sparse and waves were plentiful. Noticed a sandbar catching some of the outside bombs to the north off Oxford Ave. Paddled up there for my last few waves. All to myself. Breaking softly way outside and then walling up on the inside. Had to step on the gas a couple of times to make some fast sections in the shorebreak. Life is good!

Gear Talk / Wide Rail Tape for Raceboard

The rails on my 14 are pretty thick. I can't seem to find rail tape wide enough to protect them. Most of the rolls I'm locating are only about 2" wide. Anyone have a solution that's maybe twice that width without laying down 2 strips? THANKS!

SUP General / SUP in the Olympics

Watching the competition in London, you can't help but think when SUP will make it to that big stage. How cool would it be to see Connor, Danny, Chuck, Zane, or Slater, et al standing on the podium getting a gold with the National Anthem playing. Hope it happens in my lifetime!

Gear Talk / GoPro camera advice

Getting ready to take the leap and get a GoPro. Seems like the add on options are endless. My application will be 99% in the surf. What accessories are key to the success of this initiative? Paddle mount, head mount, board mount, floatation, etc.  Thanks in advance for your input.

These boards look really nice! Do any Zoners have time on the water with these? I'm particularly interested in hearing about the race series? Apparently, the 12'6" is available now and the 14's are out soon. Can't seem to find weight or thickness on these beauties. Would love to hear from anyone who has tried the 14 or has any additional info. Thanks

Gear Talk / Waterproof headlamp

As the days grow shorter (and colder), my time on the water is getting shorter too. Is this a crazy idea or do any of you zoners paddle after sunset? I was thinking of trying to find a bright and waterproof headlamp for some flat water distance paddles. Any suggestions for a specific headlamp besides "don't do it"?

I get that the kid is arguably the best paddler in the world, but eight minute margin??? Is Kai even visible to Connor at the finish line? I would say "probably not."

Travel, Trips, Destinations / Solana Beach, Del Mar, Cardiff vicinity

Heading to a non- SUPing friend's house in Solana Beach tomorrow. Anybody have a surf forecast for me for Tuesday thru Thursday. I'm an East Coast surf SUPer who has ridden at Bolsa and SanO a few times. I've got a board in Laguna, but won't have enough time to go up and get it. Would love to do some dawn patrols with anybody with local DelMar, Cardiff or Solana knowledge and any suggestions on where to paddle out and how/where to get a wave board in the 10'/106" range nearby.
Much appreciated and happy to reciprocate someday if you're heading east near South Jersey.

Gear Talk / Pad for Starboard TAC- Gain comfort-don't compromise aesthetics

Perhaps the Startouch deck traction is all you need, but has anyone experimented with adding a deck pad to a TAC. I am thinking of adding a small pad or pads to increase comfort while maintaining maximum exposure to the aesthetics of the wooden veneer. Apparently, Starboard is supposed to be coming out with a wood-toned pad but according to my sources they're not sure when it will happen.

The ideal solution if it will provide extra comfort are two small (just bigger than foot sized) wood-toned pads. If wood tone is not going to be available, then I guess an all black version of similar size would look ok. Or nothing at all...maybe the Startouch by itself is going to work just fine? I'd appreciate any thoughts.

A recent business development will be bringing me to the Left Coast on a fairly regular basis.    I've ridden as far south as Dog Patch, but these next few trips will be to the Del Mar area. Thanks in advance for any local color on some of the better/SUP friendly breaks around Del Mar.
