May be in Pensacola, FL the last week of July or 2nd week of August. Any suggestions of SUP surf spots? Debating if I should drive down and bring boards or forget about SUP and fly down, as I'm not sure about conditions that time of year.
Also any shops that carry Coreban in Pensacola/Ft. Walton/Destin area? Not sure if they will be out yet but would love to check out the Vibe.

Anyone tried these paddles shaped by Sean Ordonez? Saw their ad in the Standup Journal, so was curious. Seems like they have a lot going on with the blade with the vertical channel, cupped tip, slight dove tail. Not sure of the blade dimensions and if they are following the smaller blade movement or not.

Has anyone ridden these new JL models ( 10'4 & 10' and possibly draw comparisons to the older JL 10'er , which I know is shorter and slimmer than these 2 new models. Mainly wondering if the bottom shape has changed from the original 10'. Does these new JL models still have the vee running up through the boards mid section (where you would stand while paddling)? There hasn't been much talk about these boards, so curious. Read the Ke Nalu but it didn't go into details on the bottom shape. Thanks!

Blane, would you mind giving a summary of the differences between these models of your pop out boards?
10'6" x 28 3/8" x 4 5/8" 10'3" x 28 3/8" x 4 5/8" 10' x 28 3/8" x 4 3/8"
Since the width dimensions are the same, do you choose your board according to rider weight? Are the turning abilities of the boards very close? For point of reference say the riders weight is 190 - 200lbs, US east coast surf.
TIA for the input. Having a hard time figuring out which board to choose.

My young son is dying to paddle (5 yr old, 4'1", 68lbs). I take him out with me on my board, but now he'd like to try himself. I've already set him up with the "Big Island Mike" paddle (thanks!). Trying to figure out what he can use as a board (and not get killed in the waves).
Any suggestions? Trying to look at some surfboards, but not sure if they will provide enough width for stability. The other issue is cost (which I know will make it difficult). I do not want to throw down a chunk of change for a passing fad either, but never the less need to try to see if the little man really likes it! Part of me is holding off until he gets a little older, but he is non-stop talk about SUP!
I've seen some of the kids in the new Paddle Surf DVD, but some of those kids were on JL 10'....wow, that is a little pricey.
Let me know if you have any suggestions for kids!
Thanks!

What bottom shape characteristics make a board unstable or "wobbly"? Vee, concaves, rocker??? I have the Naish 11'6" and everyone who has ridden my board says it is "tippy" and not as stable as say something like the JL 11'er.
For those of you guys riding what I would consider narrow boards 28" or less, how does your boards handle in non-glassy conditions? What about ridding in choppier conditions when the wind is blowing?
Just curious if someone could shed some light on the bottom shapes and how they are making these sub-10'ers easy to paddle.
Thanks!

Any of you guys seen and/or heard any scoop on new SOS shapes? Sean's Big Red, Blue, & Green have been out for a while now, so guessing that the 2nd generation could be coming in the near future?
Can anyone with an inside scoop spill any beans? Will there be more and/or updated models?

Didn't want to hi-jack Riverrat's thread with a question of my own, so here we go!
At Tropical Blends, they show 2 of Blane's production models. Is there another website that shows all his offerings and has the dimensions specified for each model? I've checked out the PSH website, but it doesn't list the dimensions of the models shown. Guessing those are his customs?
Thanks!

I was reading supguam's "Future for shorter SUPs" thread. I can see where you would possible need a quiver of SUPs (maybe 2) so you can match the board to the conditions. But what if you would like one, all around, performance SUP? What size would you choose? Do you have to go 10' or below' to get the wave performance?
I guess I'm wondering if I can have my cake and eat it too! I'd love to have a performance board, but would also like to be able to use that board to paddle to breaks up and down the coast. For some reason I have it in my head that to use those 9'er boards, that you are mainly staying in one spot to SUP, and you are not wondering 1/2 mile or 1 mile (up or downwind) to search for other breaks.
Anyway, just curious what you guys would choose if you could only have one board.
