kia ora all, maybe someone here will have some secret knowledge to impart for a young grasshopper. Ive shaped a 5'10 x 27 x 4 1/2 dugout sup from cheap shitty polystyrene as with all my other boards and got 1 of 2 layers of 200g glass over the whole lot.
my question is would 1 layer of 200g carbon twill in between the 2 layers of glass be enough to stop the soft poly from denting underfoot? I was talking to an old charger a while back who swore by 1mm core mat for the deck reinforcing. i have some of that too but not quite sure what to do.
 the carbon patch seems to have worked on my 13ft flat water board but im not sure if it will be stiff enough for pumping and what not

Foil SUP / flat water start on a hand made foil

finally got some photographic evidence of my recent foiling endeavours. Im fairly sure this is the worlds only flat water start on a hand made foil. by hand made I mean no computer design, no cnc shaping or 3d printing. purely conceived, designed and shaped 100% by hand. im using a less than ideal 7'9 converted surf sup with the tracks set waaay too far back on the board, once my new 5'10 custom is finished it should be a piece of cake to attain flight

just finished.. well, nearly finished my new 6' 8" x 29" x4" sup, my first dedicated foil board. paddles well for a little nugget but i do need to make the front skeg a lot bigger... and paint the board

just out of curiosity what is the longest foil board you have seen? i am sure i hold some sort of world record at 3.8 metres 
yes, its an absolute prick to fly

thought i'd share the board my brother and i recently built for flat water/ downwinding. decided on 13' as we have found 14' is too long for the short harbour chop we get here and the extra length over 12' 6 is nice in the flat stuff. full carbon construction with an as yet unfinished steerable fin set up for those cross wind days
