SUP General / Home Insurance for SUP gear

Hi all,

My dad's garage was recently burgled and they stole his paddle and board among other things. He tried to claim for these on his home insurance but was told that watersports equipment like surfboards, windsurfers, SUP's and boats were not normally covered.

I have spoken to my insurer as well and they do not cover them either allthough they do cover surfboards which is weird!!

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on insurance for my gear at home please? I've tried to google it and all it comes up with is watersports travel insurance.

Gear Talk / Beginner Surf SUP Board Help

Hi all,

I have just started trying my hand at SUP Surfing using my 10'4 RRD inflatable and am after some advice on a first hard board?

I am wondering what kind of volume I need to be looking at? I am 5'11 and around 90kg/200lbs

I live in the south east of England where we don't get massive swell and it can often be quite mushy.

Any advice on size, volume and design would be greatly appreciated.

Training, Diet, and Fitness / Yoga for Back Pain / Strength

Hi all,

I have long suffered with back issues and generally keep it "under control" with trips to the osteopath but it's been suggested to me by a fellow SUPer that I should try Yoga. He also said that I have tight hamstrings which impacts my lower back as well.

Does anyone have any good advice for me on how to get started and if it can really help?

Is it worth trying it at home before paying out for a class? Any particularly good moves to do for the back?

Downwind and Racing / Off Season Training for Racing Rookie

Hi All,

I have just completed my first ever SUP race season (in England) taking part in the N1SCO and UK SUP Club races. I was relatively new to SUP so it took me a while to get used to the width of the new board but I have learnt loads and had a great time!

I am now looking forward to next season and am trying to plan my training. Unfortunately I don't have time to go to the gym so am looking for some ideas of workouts/exercises to do at home when the kids are in bed!?

I'm also thinking of making myself a balance board to try at home but never used one before so any pointers would be appreciated.
