Last couple days of paddling really felt like shoulders were loading up and fatiguing ... experiencing generalized fatigue so bonking at the end of short paddles - 4.2 miles (half into strong current) I've had periods like this before where I experience general fatigue for a couple weeks and it's baffling me why it happens. Note: my chemistry is weird any way - I've had severe depression since I was 20 which is adrenal related so this post could be answering my own question ... BUT... wondering if anyone experiences noticeable low energy periods during their paddling seasons. I started last July and paddle 4-5 days a week 4-6 miles each session. Probably no answers but if anyone has a recovery/maintenance supplement they like... I welcome any suggestions. (aside from electrolytes... I use those already. Thanks!

Just a quick review of the Bic Tracer, if you haven't tried this board I highly suggest you take one for a spin if you get the opportunity. I paddle a 404 V3 14 x 25.5 as my river/ moderate chop board... it's what I liked initially and it's a solid board for someone up to 180 lbs. (max) I believe it's around 238 liters. I've paddled the Bic 3 times now and each time I've liked it more than the last. For a 24.5 w it's super stable and surprising in cross chop, better at my size (180 lbs) than the V3 in my opinion - Bic is 279 liters I believe. The board balances extremely well and allows me to push a little more on the front while maintaining stability and the narrower width really helps my technique. Off the wind in smaller chop I loved this board, it didn't backwash and the nose never stayed under when burying into wave in front. My only complaint on the Bic is it's a bit heavier than I would like and the graphics could use some work IMHO. Neither of those things will keep me from getting one however lol. Cheers

Had a chance to paddle the new 14' x 25" (24.5" measured) Ninja yesterday, flat water with a wisp of wind and noticeable current on the Willamette River. First the design: unlike previous NSP boards designed for flatter conditions the Ninja has a displacement nose shape, with the tip "upside down" from previous years models. This year NSP has put little exit funnels on the bottom/side instead of just drainage holes, I assume for better laminar flow. The Ninja is a canoe style with a deep well and beefy sides. Bottom shape is slightly flatter than previous years with a narrow V to round bottom bow flowing back to a flatter midsection and moderately narrow tail. Paddling: Stability wise the Ninja feels initially tippy like previous NSP canoe style SUP's (2017 is narrower toward front bottom hull) but it steadies quicker due to flatter mid bottom shape... it took me just a few minutes to adjust and feel comfortable enough to pressure the rail. Older NSP would roll further with excellent final stability, this board feels just as solid with less roll. With the river current the board is certainly fast, I would say without question faster than previous NSP's, but where this board really shined was going into the current... it was faster than any board I've paddled to date. Foot position really changed how the board felt, just a few inches back and it was noticeable tippier (a lot due to me not being used to it) I felt Ninja felt best with ball of foot centered on handle, in that position water would travel about 2/3 up the nose and I felt like I could really dig in with my paddle stroke. I noticed one other thing, my feet stayed a little warmer due to being well below the deck. Going through eddy's and bow waves the Ninja was very smooth, no tendency to "trip" or get pulled over like a board with square rails might. I hope any of that makes sense. Cheers Picture shows 2016 and 2017 nose shape.

What do you guys like for cold weather booties. I wouldn't mind something like a high top soft soled shoe that I could wear wool socks with but no such animal seems to exist. Are all you cold weather paddlers wearing 5-7 mm wetsuit booties or is there something better out there. I hate those clammy ass things.

Wondering if any of you knuckleheads ride a 12'6" for Downwind runs. I understand the board speed issue with shorter length, I'm wondering wether fuller volume shorter length might be more surfy (is that a word) in shorter spaced swell like the Gorge. Thanks!

Wondered what people like for caloric replacement/energy on longer distance paddles. I'm not familiar with a lot of the new paste's, cubes, or powders etc. Thanks

404 V3 14' x 25.5" in great condition... only 5 weeks old. I'm getting the 24" wide version so I need to sell this one. Great all around, excellent training board for distance and solid off the wind in small to medium swell.

Looking for any feedback on this board... down winding? racing etc. I have a 404 14' 25.5 that I love for river paddling... great upwind and downwind in up to moderate chop.... It's too narrow for me to feel in large Gorge conditions so I'm looking for a second board for winter paddling with more width and volume. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks
