Going to move down another inch so letting this one go. It's a USA made custom, I received it in Feb. The board is in excellent shape, no damage on it. Flies in flat water and is more capable in chop than one might think. Its got the LA fin system installed and comes with an extra set of larger side fins for stability tuning. Located in FL.

Selling this as I don't really need an "all around" right now. Excellent condition, no dings, about 3 months old. This would be just about perfect as ones only race board but I have one too many. Comes with the stock fin, weighs 23 pounds with the fin. This is the carbon version. Located in FL. 2200.00

Downwind and Racing / Rough water race board

So I've sold my 14x29 Glide and the search is on for a smaller replacement. At 165 pounds, that board is just plain bigger than I need. Currently I have a 404 V3 which is listed as all conditions but my experience is that it most definitely is not. It can go upwind and downwind decently enough but not in between at all. Side chop has me paddling not just on one side but sideways period as the nose tries mightily to point downwind and confused waters really toss it about. The glide had no such issues, so I'm on to find a similar board but in the 25" range. The All Star and Sidewinder seem to be made for those types of conditions but at first glance they seem to suspiciously resemble the V3 with the big bulbous noses. The SIC FX would seem to be an easy choice but I'm not so sure about that 290 liter volume seeing as how thats 10 more than even the Glide which is a quite large board. Would the Sidewinder be as capable as the All Star and SIC in choppy ocean racing? Is the SIC's volume going to be an issue? Flat water performance is not a concern, the V3 goes well enough there.

Downwind and Racing / Getting started racing

So I haven't been paddling too long but I'm itching to start doing some races and looking for a little advice. Right now I mainly paddle in the ocean, usually 1.5 to 2 hour runs along the surf line on a 14' Naish Glide. Should I just enter some events on it and get smoked a few times on that to get a feel or invest in an actual race board now and start getting used to it? I'm on the east coast of Florida so I expect there are plenty of open water events where the glide might be less of a disadvantage given the water here is almost always chopped up past 9 am when the wind gets going or are displacement boards suitable in all conditions save strict downwinding? I'm going to check out a few events in the next couple of weeks to get a feel but if it's worth just staying on the glide for now I'll likely just enter them and figure it out as I go. While I'm not going to be competitive now the plan is to become so at some point, so I'd like to get started right any tips are appreciated.

Gear Talk / Advice on a new board
« on: August 02, 2016, 11:09:03 AM »
Hi everyone. Currently I'm riding a 12'6 Voyager and looking to possibly move up a bit. Most of my paddling is done in the ocean on the east coast of Florida so conditions run from smooth glass to 4 foot swells with swirling chop. I do a bit of flat water but would be 80% ocean paddling. The riviera has been good but seems maybe a bit ponderous in the swells and chop, stable as a dock though. I have been reading about and eyeing a naish glide so was hoping to get some input from some vets if it's more suitable to ocean paddling and occasional playing about with waves than the voyager and would be worth upgrading. Also trying to figure out whether to go 12' or 14'. I do value speed but would sacrifice a bit for a board that's better in the swells.
   I'm 6'3 170 and advanced beginner/intermediate at present.
